Halo tennis would sell more than killzone in america

Ummmm no. I would never buy a game like that.  and i know that most people wouldnt.

unlike what you ignorant people think, america won't just go out and buy anything with the halo name in it....if that where the case HW would have sold multi millions by now.

A portion of people bought it because its actually the BEST RTS on a console period!!

Another portion bought it for the halo 3 map pack that came with it.

And yes there was probably a decent sized portion that bought it just because of the halo name, but that group is in the minority.

Let me compare with you europeans and your GT would you buy GT tennis? (if that were even possible)

So next time try not to be so ignorant just because your hyped worshiped game was outsold by a RTS...

It's hilarious how many people don't realise that March contained the opening week of Halo Wars, and not the opening week of Killzone 2...

People see what they want to see, I suppose.

Halo wars - MARCH - 639k = 639k
Killzone 2 - 2 days of February and March - 323k + 296k = 619k

There ya go son :)

(323K + 296K) + ~10% for other America = ~681k

Plus 16 days of sales in April, should be well beyond 700K for just Americas by now. I think that's a nice result.

The game is popular in Europe as well (where it beat Halo Wars in most countries), adding some Japan figures for the future it should easily go past 2 million.

You'd hope it would go a long way past two million.  It was meant to massively shift consoles and did not.  Based on some of the rumoured development budgets, it's still conceivable the game won't make a profit.

In fact this is particularly likely given all the bundling that's occured.

You know you only had to keep that avatar for a week, right? You've had it for one and a half months now...it's clearly not out of your own free will, judging by that post.

And now, back on topic:

What the hell? It's conceivable the game won't make a profit?

2 million would make a profit. $40 per game sale is a reasonable estimate. That is $80 million revenue. The dev budget was nowhere near $80 million, if you trust some random poster on the internet about whom you know nothing, named "Surfer Girl", that would be a $20 million profit.

Now, it's not going to sell 2 million copies. It could double that. This is a game which, in just over a month, has sold 1.4 million copies. It is going to sell 600,000 in the next three years that its sales will be valid for? Including three holiday seasons? No, it will cross 3 million. It could well cross 4 million. Let's say that 300,000 of that is from bundles (it's not really bundled excessively). That is still an enormous profit.

I know what you're going to say next. "Modern Warfare 2 will cut its legs short". I've heard somebody saying that, I think it was you. Oh, brother.

*the following statement is not addressed specifically at you, starcraft*

First, the game would be mediocre.

Then, it would be a graphics whore.

Then, it would be overrated

Then, it would be acclaimed, but sell badly.

Then, it would get a good first week, but have no legs.

THEN, its legs would be killed by Modern Warfare 2.

Well, the first five turned out wrong. Is there any reason that two excellent FPS cannot sell at the same time? Did CoD4 stop selling when World at War released?

Nice, a Halo game beat a Killzone game by 20k, in a country where Halo is massive, and where the 360 userbase is more than double that of the PS3.

Please, don't say "RTS versus hyped FPS". Because it's not Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 vs. EndWar. It's Killzone 2 versus Halo Wars. So, it's "Double userbase massive series RTS" versus "hyped FPS". I wonder which one was going to win...

And you can look through my post history if you like. I always stated that Halo Wars, at least to begin with, would outsell Killzone 2, and I was wrong, actually, because Killzone 2 is actually winning in sales. But in America, particularly, I knew the Halo game would always win, whether FPS, RTS, RPG or platformer.
