You'd hope it would go a long way past two million. It was meant to massively shift consoles and did not. Based on some of the rumoured development budgets, it's still conceivable the game won't make a profit. In fact this is particularly likely given all the bundling that's occured.

You know you only had to keep that avatar for a week, right? You've had it for one and a half months now...it's clearly not out of your own free will, judging by that post.
And now, back on topic:
What the hell? It's conceivable the game won't make a profit?
2 million would make a profit. $40 per game sale is a reasonable estimate. That is $80 million revenue. The dev budget was nowhere near $80 million, if you trust some random poster on the internet about whom you know nothing, named "Surfer Girl", that would be a $20 million profit.
Now, it's not going to sell 2 million copies. It could double that. This is a game which, in just over a month, has sold 1.4 million copies. It is going to sell 600,000 in the next three years that its sales will be valid for? Including three holiday seasons? No, it will cross 3 million. It could well cross 4 million. Let's say that 300,000 of that is from bundles (it's not really bundled excessively). That is still an enormous profit.
I know what you're going to say next. "Modern Warfare 2 will cut its legs short". I've heard somebody saying that, I think it was you. Oh, brother.
*the following statement is not addressed specifically at you, starcraft*
First, the game would be mediocre.
Then, it would be a graphics whore.
Then, it would be overrated
Then, it would be acclaimed, but sell badly.
Then, it would get a good first week, but have no legs.
THEN, its legs would be killed by Modern Warfare 2.
Well, the first five turned out wrong. Is there any reason that two excellent FPS cannot sell at the same time? Did CoD4 stop selling when World at War released?
