Two years ago, this same analyst -- Ed Barton -- predicted that the PS3 would be on top and the Wii a distant third.

Two/Three years ago every analyst predicated the PS3 would be in first and the Wii would be in last.  That was the most likely scenario of the time.  The Nintendo Wii's success wasn't something most people expected.

In fact, most everyone "predicting" the Wii's success at the time were the kooks who always bet against the majority for everything desperately hoping to win the virtual lottery with one lucky prediction among dozens (who also probably bet on the Gamecube as well).

Doesn't that make the analysts sound kinda worthless? When the price tag of the PS3 was revealed, I would think lots of people would have started doubting what would happen. I wasn't paying attention to console gaming at the time, but I'd bet there were many more people optimistic about the Wii than say, the Gamecube. The situation was completely different.

Anyway, grats to outlaw for getting someone to (eventually) buy Valkyria Chronicles.

Hey now, when I win my bet, he won't be the first convert!

At the end of it all i say about .80M in Japan .60M NA and .40M in Europe so about 1.80M total that is with Nintendo trying to market MH in the other territories. That is a very reasonable estimate and unless something radically changes that will most likely be the end result.

I know they for sure will sell at least one copy in NA bc I am planning on buying this one on day one.

"Like you know"

Well it would be hard for it to do as well as the PSP versions considering that is where the brand attachment is currently. So he's probably right but that's pretty much stating the obvious haha.

I can see where he's coming from. One of the reasons the series is probably so popular on the PSP is for it being portable. Having said that, I think the title will still do well, just perhaps not as well.

It won't sell anywhere near the PSP versions, but anyone with sanity knew that.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

It might not manage PSP verion figures... but it is pretty much guaranteed to be a million seller in Japan, which on a console at these times is damned impressive.

So it wont be as big as a game that was released on the PSP when the PSP was floundering in Japan? and still managed to sell millions? Lets not start thinking that the Playstation "god-awful attach-rate" Portable is some amazing device that sells a million copies of every game released on it! It just is not true.

No... but it will be bigger than the game released on the PS2 when it was incredibly popular in Japan.

here is my own reasons why it wont sell as much
1) its a console not a Portable
2) its on wii , which means people wont buy it much in the US (yes i know US loves wii, but thats mainly cause of wii fit)
3) you have to pay monthly
4) alot of Wii owners dont know about this Game/Series

1. OK...in Japan. In the West it should sell more. Still well sell 1 mil+ in Japan.

2. So much wrong. Not gonna bother with this one. Besides, the Wii was doing well in the US before Wii Fit even released >_>

3. No you don't. That's for MHG...which is Japan only.

4. That's why they'll market it heavily. And in Japan they should know what it is fine.

No, MH3 is going to be pay to play just like MHG.
