Forums - Nintendo - Analyst : Monster Hunter 3 may not be a huge hit - Me : WTF are u smoking?

Its gonna give Wii a noticeable bump in Japan and reach 1 million. Thats what I believe.

As for it selling like crazy and all that shit other people are predicting I dont think so.

I just don't see anything more than a milli for the title.

I'd be supersuprisedshocked if it did over 1 million units. Looking at the PS2 ones (even MH 2 which came out after MHF on PSP) it sold worse than the PSP one. I just can't see it doing over a million, even after the popularity rise. It has to do with the popularity of portable gaming too, not just the series selling more...

Two/Three years ago every analyst predicated the PS3 would be in first and the Wii would be in last.  That was the most likely scenario of the time.  The Nintendo Wii's success wasn't something most people expected.

In fact, most everyone "predicting" the Wii's success at the time were the kooks who always bet against the majority for everything desperately hoping to win the virtual lottery with one lucky prediction among dozens (who also probably bet on the Gamecube as well).

i think the analyst is right. :)(: .

Prepare to be super surprised, my clone :)

It is kinda scary to see both of you post right after each other.

It wont beat the PSP version not in Japan nor worldwide... it might sell a couple of thousand units more outside of Japan, but with the release of Unite MHP2G will easily pass the 4 milluion mark worldwide sooner or later... to achieve that feet MH3 willl have to sell over a million in both the US and EU... and that will NOT happen...

I don't know about that. MHF2 on PSP sold 610,000 in both US and EU. Wii is much popular in both regions and also MHF2 wasn't marketed right? And they said they want to heavily market MH3 in the West (they said they'd like the series to be as big in the West as in Japan!) So it's actually possible.

MHF2 had some decent magazine and internet ads.

Nothing too serious.

Doesn't that make the analysts sound kinda worthless? When the price tag of the PS3 was revealed, I would think lots of people would have started doubting what would happen. I wasn't paying attention to console gaming at the time, but I'd bet there were many more people optimistic about the Wii than say, the Gamecube. The situation was completely different.

Anyway, grats to outlaw for getting someone to (eventually) buy Valkyria Chronicles.

If MH3 has free online play and WiiSpeak support, then it will sell very well world wide, though I doubt it'd beat Monster Hunter Freedom Unite if you are counting only Japan. The thing about Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is that it still won't have online play, I don't know about Europe but we won't randomly pull out our handhelds and link with random people in the States, and most of us who don't live in the Cities just drive everywhere, there'd be little point in playing a game designed like that which has no online o_O;.

edit: even if you are in the City, you don't pull that stuff out randomly.... lol....

What was that one qoute from Capcom? Something about being bigger than Dragon Quest. :P
