Oh shit, I just realized that I wrote a review. Has the OP decided that this is what he wants now?
He would have wanted it, but you didn't give Lair an 8.

No no, there was a flying game he doesn't like so he's obviously biased against all flying games so he's obviously the wrong person to give an opinion on a flying game. And did he even say anything about anyprevious dragon games or liking dragon games? Talk about biased against games like Lair, no wonder he rated it so low.  I'm sorry, but that review is worthless (and WTH!  He didn't ask for reviews!!).

-edit-
Please PLEASE note the extreme sarcasm there.  It was a good hands on review there, I was actually surprised at the water bit.  The videos I saw it didn't look too bad but I guess they just chose the pretty shots.

Is this going to be the turning point where the hardcore gamers are going to turn on game reviewers now that they don't give them the scores they like?

Sign the Resident_Evil_5_Petition for a Wii release or Dark_Samus is going to come get you.

That only happens to fanboys. Same thing happened with Nintendo or Sony fanboys. Also Resident Evil 5 is a hardcore game if you are somehow referring to hardcore gamers in a negative way.

Would like to remind everyone once again that while the majority of Lair reviews were very low, Game Informer scores were 7.25 and 8 so it's not a 100% across the board opinion among the main review sources of games.

Carry on.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

this thread is insane

and im with ck on this one, alot of people did not like the controls but a few did not mind them, well not just controls everything

But there seems to be an issue, since game informers did mention how hard it is

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Apparently some people can't Wiid. Sorry, couldn't help myself.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Penny Arcade played it and said it sucked.

Penny Arcade also thought the original Halo was shit and look how that worked out for them...

I'd rather listen to the other reviewers that didn't like it.

As Gelmar said, they only thought the single player sucked.

Also there are games that suck for reasons such as controls, raw gameplay, story, etc etc.  Games that are simply poorly designed or unfinished and people can pretty much agree that they suck.  I would argue that Lair is such a game.

Then there are games that are fully polished and personal preference further comes into play.  Like Halo for example.  I played it on the PC and enjoyed it, but it did get repetative fighting the same monsters over and over in a series of identical rooms.  For me though the fighting was really fun, I loved the carrying just 2 weapons thing and switching depending on the situation.  I thought the story was awesome and it was enough to involve me.  I think playing it on the console would have been more trying, since it seemed like the PC version was easier with the mouse controls.  I'm not sure I would have perserved on the console.  Anyway this was their point:

I can't get to the news post to read more unfortunately.  If Halo was universally agreed to be perfect in every way then I might start to doubt them, but they raise a good point.  It is very valid strike against the game and doesn't mean they are bad reviewers.  It just means that for them, the gameplay and story were not good enough to overcome the games repetative issues.

Perhaps more to the point though, in respect to the thread, I would not say they are reviewers.  Nor would I say they have any bias to speak of.  So regardless of whether you generally agree with them or not, I believe they fit the OPs description of gamers, not reviewers who have played the game which is why I feel they are relevent.

Honestly I knew i was never going to Buy LAIR from day 1 as I knew I wanted warhawk more as i was a big fan of the Original on PS1. Now that both are out I bought Warhawk BR version and rented LAIR to see what all the bad reviews were about. after playing a few missions all i can say is.
What game were they playing. I have played truly bad games that deserve 5 out of 10 and this is not one of them.

I honestly rate this game a 7.7 as its definatly not flawless. The only problem is that its it can get repetitive at times.

Now THIS is exactly the sort of response I'm looking for.  He says he liked Warhawk, so we know he likes flying games.  He says he had lower expectations of LAIR, but they weren't very poor.  He says he played it during a rental, so now I know about how much time he had with it.  And on top of that, he even gives a mini-review and score.

Thank you, sir.

Obviously ...

You've discounted countless reviews from professional reviewers and gamers alike simply because you wanted a review which was positive. The only question I would have is why did you even bother to start this thread when there was only one response that you were willing to accept? If you only want to hear how great Sony is why don't you only read Sony Defence Force?

If you ask a question you should be willing to accept the answer

I played it too. It's not that good. The motion sensing response delays at about one second. There are many other flaws with it too. The graphics aren't even as good as they should be.

I'm curious how akuma liked it.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
