Nomura could have been the say for ps3 VS exclusive and not sony

FFXIII exclusive in Japan is where it REALLY matters.......

Think about it, SE must have said to Sony "360 version will easily do 3 million, we want the equivalent to keep the exclusive" and sony must have said "that's enough to make a couple first party games do how about you get lost and we pay you the equivalent of 200k 360 sales to keep it exclusive in Japan and we also take Versus."

Nomura + Kitase would have been the first ones to know, my guess is that they were there. Sony kept the game exclusive in the region it would sell the most and took Versus with the, as well as saving enough money to make a couple more first party games.

When money is an issue that's a smart way to go.

Voltrath50 your new here, little longer and you will understand that logic just does not work on gaming forums.

There's also the chance that Sony paid a lot to keep VS13 exclusive, even more so than it would have cost to keep 13 itself exclusive (given that they are getting 2 games after all, 1 totally exclusive and 1 exclusive in the most likely highest grossing region).

What's going to cost Sony more (money wise to convince S-E)?

FF13 exclusive everywhere

or

FF13 exclusive in region that should generate the most sales and complete exclusivity on a brand new game (VS).

I think it was a brilliant move that Sony kept VS 13 exclusive (you're outside your mind if you thought they kept exclusivity for free, given S-E's curren t strategy), because they have two of S-E's biggest games in the forseeable future appearing on their console. And given that Final Fantasy has been linked to the Playstation since it's rise to mass popularity and the PS3's dominance over the 360 in Japan, FF13 will be one of the few multiplatform titles that sells better on the PS3 (a win to sony, they don't get all the sales, but they get bragging rights).

I have no doubt that it costs them more with what the current plan is than just keeping 13 exclusive. (But I still think it's a brilliant move by sony).

what you say is true and i mostly agree, but it is made with the assumption that V13 will remain exclusive. We will see how everything plays out I guess.

Deny, Deny, Deny. Then at 11th hour surprise FFXIII is coming to X360 as well as PS3 in early 2010, Japan Xmas 09' - PS3 only. Localisation of games only takes a few months. Games are translated into other languages while they make the game.

Lost Odyssey released in Japan only two months before releasing in Europe and America. FFXIII will release in Japan a few months in front of Europe and America.

Where do you get your info from????!!!!!

The only thing confirmed is FY 2010.... That's anywhere between Apr 2010 to Mar 2011!

4 ≈ One

People just expected it to be didnt they, as ff was synonomous with the playstation brand

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

numonex your trying too hard.

"FF Versus XIII would actually work much better on PC than PS3."

Why?

PC has a much larger user base and can easily support MMORPGs. World of Warcraft.

You dont know much about versus do you?

Why is this EVEN a question

ofcourse FF13 was announced as an exclusive!

SONY even said "we are disappointed in S-E" after last E3's FF13 Xbox 360 annnouncement.....that statement from SONY alone proves AT SOME POINT FF13 was for PS3 only

That only proves that sony thought it was going to be exclusive.  It says nothing about S-E's plans.

don't listen to numonex he knows nothing about FF.

Versus = action Jrpg like kingdom heart, nomura game, kh team, kh music artist (yoko shimamura).

and FF localization take from 3-6 months.

Localization for FFXIII would only be a few months...if it were still PS3 exclusive. Considering SE said they weren't even going to start DEVELOPING the 360 version until the PS3 version is done (supposedly Winter 2009), then they have to do the porting, THEN the localization. Late 2010 is my guess for getting FFXIII stateside

Do I really have to post the Japanese release dates of Final Fantasy titles and the western release dates AGAIN? A few months? Laughable.

Final Fantasy VII: 1/97 (JPN), 9/97 (NA), 11/97 (EUR)

Final Fantasy VIII:  1/99 (JPN), 9/99 (NA), 10/99 (EUR)

Final Fantasy IX: 7/00 (JPN), 11/00 (NA), 2/01 (EUR)

Final Fantasy X: 7/01 (JPN), 12/01 (NA), 5/02 (EUR)

Final Fantasy X-2: 3/03 (JPN), 11/03 (NA), 2/04 (EUR)

Final Fantasy XII: 3/06 (JPN) 10/06 (NA), 2/07 (EUR)

On average Final Fantasy titles hit Japan just over 6 months before their North American localizations and nearly 10 months before their European localizations. Now maybe your definition of a "few months" is different than mine.
