Did you watch the video? I mean watch it again. Note how he makes a direct right angle turn for no reason other then to get in the cops way.

He's walking along straiht... then makes a sharp turn for little reason and the cop pushes him to try to get him out of the bomb squads way.

I have watched the video plenty of times and all I can see is Ian walking away from the police with his back to the police and his hands in his pockets. Posing no threat at all. Why are you justifying police voilence on an innocent person. The batton strike and push is almost certainly the cause of Ian's death. The policeman should be tried in court like any other citizen would be.

He's walking away very very slowly.... and he's moving in a way to slow down the police on purpose. Also all I saw was a push. Not a baton strike.

Stopping the police from removing bombs by impeding there travel i wouldn't call "doing nothing."

He distinctly cuts very closley infront of them soley for the purpose of slowing them down. It's like when your driving, and don't like the person behind you who is trying to pass, so you move with them blocking there way so they can't pass you.

Except instead of trying to get somewhere... the guy is looking for bombs.

You can clearly see a batton strike at 1:14 in this clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsWJ9j8LuHI

If those policemen are so busy looking for bombs, why the hell do they just stand still after pushing him out the way?

Also, I couldn't find footage of him making a direct right angle turn like you claimed he did.

Check the video in this very thread... the one in the OP.

He's walking straight down the road paralel... with the road.

Then when he's pushed he's walking away from the road.

1:47 in the clip you posted.

I'm not convinced about that. Its not like it would be the first protest where the police have abused their powers this year.

But you can actually see it in the video.   Both of them.

Too many people on this site love authority in that masculine, daddy-like way.

bad thing of course.

but that's nothing compared to what happens in arabic countries, especially egypt.
I saw what happens there live when I was at the police station.

these videos are nothing and i saw a lot worse , raping women, raping men etc

i wish i had my own army to dethrone every arabic president :(

That's brutality.  That is nothing.  Where is the water and car battery cables?  Where is Jack Bauer?

Yeah, the police in the West are angels compared to other parts of the world.

This video is a huge thing here in the UK at the moment. It shows a newspaper seller just walking home through the riots before he is wacked in the back of the knees with a baton and then pushed to the floor by the police. The man suffered a fatal heart attack just minutes later.

It may not have been an incredibly aggressive act but any violent overreactions by the police on protestors will anger the crowd meaning that the police have to be even tougher to keep them under control, but this will just increase tension thus a potential riot.

Bloody Sunday comes to mind.

A second autopsy disguards the claims of a heart attack kiling the man, it was supposedly internal bleeding which did it. Things just keep getting worse for the police.

It's a terrible tragedy, no arguement there. But I can this becoming another 'Daily (STUPID FUCKING TWATS) Mail' campaign for justice. Before you know it Ian Tomlinson will be on the cover everyday and the daily mail will try to ban the police, without think of the consequences past 'yeah racists and idiots buy our paper, let's be racist idiots'.

I can guarantee it will be all over the daily mail tomorrow and they will try to ban the police or something stupid like that. Don't believe me, they effectively risked the lives of dozens of kids and ruined the lives of dozens of professionals with the babyp campaign.

Trust me, the Daily Fail will be all over this for the next few months
