@cgi

Im pretty sure it would matter to these guys if it was the other way around...

chill out.

So you are implying that it matters to you then...?

Obviously it does.

Did you guys not know? Let us say I have 5 games that I like and you have 5 games that you like.

Now let us say my games sold to more people overall than yours did. You are supposed to care!

Of course because otherwise he wouldn't be asking for a flamebaiting response.  And in regards to "5 game" I like, only SONY and Nintendo can satisfy my platforming needs for the obvious reasons (obvious to gamers and not fanboys).  And you don't see me rubbing Super Mario Galaxy sales in anyone's face.  And as a gamer, I look beyond the standard commercial hype to seek out gems such as Siren (mentioned earlier).  Because as a survival/horror fan, I truely feel that Siren is one of the VERY few current true survival/horror experiences only on the PS3.

Good answer. That is what i'm talking about.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

^^ cause it's not a first party developed game.

then i ask why gears is conveniently included

all titles listed in the original post are published by MS or SCE.

'these 4 microsoft games' Gears is not MS game... even if its published.

That is a funny thing. Gears is 1st or 3rd party, depending on the point you are trying to make. I'm fine with both.

NO. Gears is not 1st Party, at all. Microsoft does not own the IP, they are the publishers, meaning it's always 3rd Party. Just like HEAVY RAIN, Sony does not own the IP, therefore it's a 3rd Party game, published by Sony, not a 1st Party game.

Yeah, that is my point of view too. However if people are talking about third party sales, gears is usually first party then. :)

And some of those Sony games include bundling might I add.

And some of those Microsoft games include bundling as well. What's your point?

Making a large number of good games is a good point about Sony.  Yes, it's part of an attempt to sell more consoles and games, and the price of the console has limited that success, to date.  Sony's ability to make a large number of good games, going forward, is an asset.  Price changes will happen.

And as starcraft pointed out, Sony has yet to drop some of their primary IPs, while MS has already dropped theirs (new great IPs will still be born from either publisher, of course).  That fact, plus the price issue, when combined with the strength of the exclusive games roster, will as always determine sales going forward.

Sales data isn't some kind of defense against the point that Sony can, does, and will, make large numbers of good games.

Sony.

More games. More experiences. More choice.

The 360 has plenty of variety and huge hits. Sony has variety... they sell okay... but the sequels sell even worse.

Still, sony is giving us

More games. More experiences. More Choice.

Isn't that what gamers want?

Judging by monthly sales numbers? No.

So gamers want games that sale well monthly?
