Forums - Gaming - Dead Rising 2 WILL NOT have multiplayer

Source: IGN.com Apparently, the information regarding multiplayer was a mistake, according to a statement from Laura Scholl herself. Today, clarifying her comments from GDC, she specifically contacted IGN, stating, "In my 'During the Dead Rising 2' presentation at GDC this past Friday, while I was describing how Blue Castle is using mental mill technology in character development, I mistakenly referred to the game as multiplayer instead of multiplatform. I apologize for the confusion. The game is indeed multiplatform and Blue Castle has done an amazing job creating incredibly photorealistic characters -- from their skin tone to their clothing -- in heavily populated and complex levels throughout the game. Gamers are going to be thrilled with how the game feels, looks and plays."

damn it no multiplayer this makes me very sad it wouldve been great to smash some zombies heads with my friends

I never expected this game to have multyplayer anyways...

but, they should make it a bit longer, since they're not puting much extra stuff like mulyplayer.

I consider myself a social guy. I love to play games on Xbox Live with my friends and be in parties. I'm always a team player online.

And yet...

Does every game this generation have to have a multiplayer aspect? Just play by yourself and enjoy it.

i agree this is still my most wanted game and with the amount of zombies on screen at once i will have a hell of a time by myself

Not every game needs it, but dammit, I want a buddy by my side while we beat back the zombie hordes with hamster balls and slot machines!

Not every game needs multiplayer, but the Dead Rising series screams for it.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Fine by me! I like tackling games like this at my own pace.

I was sort of hoping to be able to grab a friend, or hopefully more. Build up a barricade in dead rising 2 and gun down zombies trying to survive. Periodically going out for food, sorta like infinite mode in dead rising, but with more people.

That sounds like what should be a real fun experience for dead rising 2. I'm a bit sad cause this is one of the few games after playing the first one I thought "should" have been multiplayer.

Afterall, would you rather have real survivors or more AI ones?

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

why cant people play alone anymore....next thing you know mutiplayer will pop in games that shouldnt have the like RE series, but hopefully that wont happen

maybe it will happen you never know

That very same "need" is what turned Resident Evil 5 into a disgraceful crapfest. Instead of making the game around the fun of surviving the horrific circumstances presented by the storyline (à la RE4), we were force-fed a co-op experience to which a plot was badly attached.

Argh!
