Forums - Nintendo - Is Nintendo trying to make Pikmin known?

I think so. Pikmin is one of the less popular franchise's from Nintendo. Nintendo is clearly making a new one either on Ds or Wii(Most likely Wii) because Miyamoto confirmed this at last years E3. Pikmin isn't to populer (in my opinion) because it isn't that known. Many people have either never heard of Pikmin or never wanted to give it a try. In a interview(Can't find it anymore) Miyamoto said that Pikmin started off well but the sales started slowing down quickly. I think this was due to it not being known.

Now Is Nintendo attempting to make it known? I think so because of these reasons:

Reason1: Olimar was added as a character to a popular Nintendo franchise known as Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Reason2: Nintendo put out Pikmin as a game apart of the New Play Control Series.

Reason3: Not only did they remake the 1st but they remade the 2nd too.

Reason4: If you go to the Nintendo.com website on the ds side is rhythm heaven but on the wii side New Play Control Pikmin is being advertised.

Reason5: Everyone knows how Nintendo always gets asked if their making new games and what games. They ask about Starfox and Kirby and even wave race but Nintendo never gives an answer besides "We are not aloud to talk about it". For some reason though when Miyamoto was asked about Pikmin and hardcore gamers he gave them the answer "We are making Pikmin" Which to me sounds like Nintendo wanted people to know that a new Pikmin game was being made.

Yes. I guess that's the reason they re-released Pikmin 1 & 2 as NPC for the wii. So when Pikmin 3 arrives, it'll get more attention and better sales

Well, they really aren't trying tohide the fact taht they're trying to make the series known, but there's a flaw with your #4 and #5 argument.

4: That's because both of those games are recent first-party releases on their respective platforms.

5: The reason Miyamoto aditted to making Pikmin was because all the Nintendo reps, from him to Iwata, to Reggie, to Dunaway, were obviously completely embarrassed by their E3 presentation. If he had really wanted to let people know about it, they would have shown a trailer or some gameplay DURING the show. It's family-friendly enough, so why not? He was basically goaded into saying it, anyway.

But yeah, they're not hiding the fact that they want people to know about it. The Gamecube wasn't as popular as previous Nintendo platforms, and Pikmin games didn't sell 'fantastically', so they of course want to create a fanbase on Wii before another full-fledged sequel comes out.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

i didnt even think of it. but that series is my favorite nitendo franchise.

Nintendo tends to let the world advertise for them most of the time.

I guess it's about time they give pikmin a push. Personally, I've never played the game, but my curiosity has been aroused since Brawl.

Well, the previous 2 Pikmins sold a million, so I don't know how that is unknown...

But you may be right, they're trying to get more awareness for Pikmin, I think Pikmin 3 will end up selling the most out of the bunch.

Orca_Azure- Thank you. Your helping make my point brawl is a popular game and with Olimar and the Pikmin in it make people more interested in it!

Even more well known, yes.

Nintendo still doomed?
