Forums - Nintendo - Namco talks Tekken for the Wii

Soul Calibur II was great on Wii. Cannot fault it.

Aside from having the most broken character in the series I can fault it for bad controls. The button layout was very awkward and hard to get used to. I loved the game, but it had control issues big time. The GC controller is no better or worse than what the Wii has for fighting game controls without the use of a Classic Controller.

I think wierd part is the size and location of the buttons. I was talking about motion sensing implementation because that's what I first thing about when I think about a Wii game... I just think that anything other than the classic or perhaps the GC controller would be wierd for tekken on Wii.

Motion sensing is entirely optional though. Why add it if it won't help gameplay? If it must be used, then use it for specific combinations of buttons as is done with the shoulder buttons on your typical controller. I think it is hysterical that you would use a GC controller as an example of a good for any fighting game outside the Smash series. It is possibly the worst design ever for a fighting game.

Um... ok...

I was just thinking that the GC controller would work better than the Wii-mote...

4 ≈ One

D-Pad for punches and kicks, analog stick to move, figure it out from there. Plenty of ways they could make the control work.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"a port will fail comercially and critically."

But for all the wrong reasons. The game could play like a dream, and people will still assume port=cheap cash-in.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Anyone have any idea how this game sold? It definitely looked terrible, but I'm very curious.

That's not true, there are ports which have sold fine, on the Wii and other systems. There are ports of varying quality of course.

I know there are some exceptions. I was just addressing that a port would be more likely to be bashed than praised, because they think it's easy to port, and that if it's easy it's therefore bad.

Not sure how I feel about this. I understand that Namco is trying to expand to the Wii, but at the same time I don't really feel that Tekken should be played without an arcade stick.

That would be great. I am a big Tekken fan and would love to have some Tekken games on the Wii.
