Tekken 6 director on Wii Tekken: 'very interesting'

In a new interview with GamePro, Tekken 6 director Katsuhiro Harada suggests that Wii owners demand a Tekken game of their own.

In an exclusive interview with GamePro, the director of the Xbox 360- and PS3-bound brawler Tekken 6 is open to the idea of a Wii version of the classic fighting series. Here's the key quote:

Do you have any desire to port Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection or Tekken 6 to the Wii at some point? Why or why not?

Katsuhiro Harada: That would be very interesting. Like the Xbox 360 owners, if Wii owners are passionate and make it known they really want the series on their system, we would love to be able to answer that request.

Hearing about the huge number of Xbox 360 owners who are Tekken fans, especially in North America, definitely played a huge part in influencing us to bring the game to that system.

As for the Wii, the standard controller lacks the right number of buttons and the placement is awkward, so... I suppose the classic controller could handle it!

Hmmm, I don't think I want an old port, no way. Probably a ground up game could be interesting, a port will fail comercially and critically.

And interesting to know that gamers demand was what made them go multiplatform, maybe NoA and Capcom are listening to us, but I always have my doubts. But I say it's time for us to stop begging and let the games come, it's the first time in history owners of a console have to beg and make petitions for games to happen.

I never understood why there has been such a lack of traditional fighters on the Wii.

Yes, there are less buttons to use, but with propper gestures mapped to attacks, a fighter like Tekken could be awesome fun on the Wii.

Why not......DS and PSP versions will be good too

I have a feeling any Tekken for the Wii won't be taken seriously by the developers, kind of like Soul Calibur: Legends.

the thing is mapped won't be completely accurate. as buttoms are.

Yup... but seeing as Tekken uses only 4 buttons that shouldn't be a problem...

I only put it in because it was said in the interview

I hope they do.

I don't care for Tekken, but cool for fans of tekken I guess.

As someone who loves Tekken, I would never buy a Tekken game for the Wii.
