Personally speaking Dead space blows Resident evil 5 away. Having played both, Dead space was a more satisfying experience. I even thought it was better than RE4 but that is only my opinion.

They're almost different genres--it's like comparing the fast, tense racing action of Mario Kart to the deliberate, realistic Gran Turismo. They're both great, and can't be compared.

It's not the same thing at all.
I played both.
After clearing Deadspace twice I was fully done with the game( story is great but replay value isn't there).
I have played 100 hours + of Re5 mercenaries and Versus mode so far and I am still addicted to it....

while dead space had great controls, genuine horror, and amazing AI..

resident evil had sluggish controls, no horror, and stupid AI.

dead space is awesome survival horror game with great atmosphere, i didn't play resident evil 5 yet but resident evil 4 is one of my favorite games ever, dead space maybe better than resident evil 4 at scaring gamers, overall i like resident evil 4.

Dead Space is survival horror.
Resident Evil 5 is action horror.

Both games are good, although id rate Res5 higher.

RE5 is still said to be in the survival horror bracket so both can be compared. In which case Dead Space over RE5 since the latter was about as scary as a toilet seat.

bleh, it baffles me why people like the game.

I also like Dead Space better than Resident Evil 5. The controls are better, the atmosphere of the game is creepy, even the story is better. I also like how there is no HUD, its all integrated into the suit and weapons.
