I really don't think Wii is going to get below 10k anytime soon in Japan, it probably won't happen in 2009 since Wii Sports Resort is in July. Its been at a very stubborn 15,000-20,000 for months now. The trend is slowly down, but Deca Sports, Monster Hunter G, Winning Eleven and Golden Week are enough to kickstart Wii at least a bit

Deca Sports 2 should insure Wii doesn't drop below 10k next week (45k-65k debut?) and then the MHG/GW stuff comes.

Monster Hunter G continues to accelerate in preorders now which is somewhat encouraging as well.

360 sales had a boost.

@TheSource: I have to doubt what you say, really. You have been giving very generous predictions about the Wii in Japan for the whole 2009, yet you were always higher.

The Wii has hit 13k! It's closer than ever to 10k, and after MHG, comes nothing that could help HW. Muramasa didn't help HW like you said, fact is HW dropped. I don't believe Deca Sports 2 will help HW, not at all.

MHG will, but after that, I don't see significant releases that will help Wii go up. When Golden Week is over, what will help the Wii. PES 09? No, late port. Powerful Pro Baseball 09? No, late port. Kizuna? No, small niche RPG. Takt of Magic? No, small niche RPG (The DS one bombed very badly). Arc Rise Fantasia? Maybe, but nothing notable.

We will have to wait until WSR and M+, but after that, what's next? More months of game droughts? Looks like it until September for MH3. I don't think Wii sales will be going up anytime soon. Let's try to be realistic, the Wii is on a very negative trend, it needs something colossal and groundbreaking to revert the situation. Everything in between MHG and WSR is not going to help.

Deca Sporta 2 should bump Wii sales, the first one sold 270,000 (66,000 first week) in Japan, and Wii userbase is much higher now. 100,000 first week?

Sequels or newer games from same franchises havent particularly done well in Japan for the Wii.

Take: Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, NPC Pikmin, Powerful Pro Baseball, We Ski, Super Swing Golf, Harvest Moon, Sonic, Bomberman, Trauma Center, Cooking Mama, FIFA, Major League Baseball.

In fact, there hasn't been a sequel that sold better than the original game for the Wii in Japan.

So in the end PS3 got minimal victory :) Makes me happy especially with next week result madness from demo :D
But X360 needs to drop soon I predicted 6k for it in predictions league for next week :D

Trestres: What's your problem? 2009 should be fine for Wii with MHG, Tales of Graces, Dynasty Warriors 3 and MH3.

You have to understand that Wii was tracking above the PS2 for about 2 years only on Nintendo games. It can't last forever without 3rd party support. Third parties missed the boat and bet (understandably) on the wrong horse. Now they have problems, because PS360 sells big games very well, but everything else not so much and Wii doesn't have the right userbase to support 3rd party games because all the big games in certain genres are on the HD consoles.

You can't expect a Tales spin-off to carry the JRPG fanbase when 360 gets all the big hits and FFXIII will be on PS3. You can't expect Capcom VS to sell very well when Soul Calibur/Tekken/StreetFighter are not on that console.

This year we'll some change in that with 3 main series' releases that will sell consoles. Chrystal Chronicles is shaping up nicely and maybe Dragon Quest X info will help as well.
