Forums - Sales - What is a realistic expectation of Monster Hunter 3 sale?

It will definitely sell more than a million in Japan. It depends on what sort of momentum this game can get, if it becomes popular it can sell for ages like the PSP version that still sells now.

It will definitely come to the NA and PAL region, other MH games did so why wouldnt capcom Use Wii phenomena to make this series somewhat popular in the West? If they would be able to guarantee good online and maybe ditch the friend codes it can become bigger in Europe.

Lifetime sales will be definately over 1.5 m

Around the Network

Half of whatever MHP2G manages to sell, right now that's 1.5 million.

Expectation seems to be 1 million + with most people shying away from the second million. That seems achievable although to be honest I think it will barely break a million. There is a big chance that I might be completely wrong but I just can't shake the feeling that a large part MH's success is base on its chosen (handheld) platform.

Over a million in Japan, not sure how popular the game is outside of Japan.

"To love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, for as long you shall be resurrected from death in the church"

Let me see. Dragon Quest Swords sold ~500k in Japan. MH3 is much, much bigger.

I'd say 800k-1200k Japan

Capcom wants to increase the popularity of the series outside Japan big time, so they will do massive advertising. I also think the hype for this is quite big. So I go with:

500k-800k USA+Europe (grinding will never be extremely popular)

Total: 1.3 - 2 million

Around the Network

An optimistic 1.5 million worldwide.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

3 million

I doesn't matter; as long as it isn't P2P and get's released in a language I understand It will be huge.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

^It will only be P2P within Japan.

I doubt Japanese people have anything against playing a MH game on a big screen. It's not Pokemon, after all.

With regard to 'ad-hoc' multiplayer, let's not forget that the game supports two-player splitscreen, and you can take teh guest online.

This definitely has the potential to outsell the PSP versions.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
