I'd love a sequel. Valkyria Chronicles is my most treasured ps3 game.

:) Someone watched the anime? I just watched the first epi and it is quite good.
Psst: You can watch it here:

Depends on how they do it, it could turn out to be a prequel to the original for all we know. But yeah, it is a little anti-climatic, though the idea of another game in the same vain as VC can make me forgive it. |
EWI would be pretty cool. But still I have a feeling they're going for a series (at least 3 games), and just doing prequel and leaving everything behind makes it feel even more wrong. But I guess it's the gameplay that matters the most...
Out of the blue observation: Why is it that Killzone 2 and VC, although they're main reference is Nazi Germany, also refer to the Cold War and Soviet Union for inspiration?

I've said it countless of time the IP would see a sequel and be a new Sakura Taisen type of success but nobody ever listen.

I have been thinking about what a prequel to VC would be like. How many people we already know should we bump into, should we be playing as them (Largo, Varot, Welkin's dad?), or should we play completely seperated from?
I also think a game set in EWI would be cool, because we don't know a lot about it. Sure, we know some of the basics of what happened, but there is still a lot of room for story telling.

Where do you get soviet references in VC ? Ok the map might suggest Empire is soviet but really - all the behaviours like shooting escaping civilians and extermination of people of certain race or minor coutries fightning along empire troops (general Jaeger) suggest it's Germany, that's before we even take German naming scheme of their troops into consideration.

I didn't say both games use the USSR as their main inspiration. Both clearly use Nazi Germany as their main inspiration. It's just that both games also have small injections of Soviet Union influences, with some of the symbols in KZ2, and map+collective nations in VC (along with how Gallia just wants to be an independent nation instead of being swallowed or divided by both of the two Goliath federations/confederates).
The names of the Imperialists. The name Gallia itself. The Blitzkerg (sp?) attack. All of that is clearly WWII (although there is a HUGE lack of airplanes). I'm just saying that there seems to be a little diversity in the sources of inspiration. Hell, Ragnite (sp?) is a reference to the Middle East conflict.
@ Rainbird
If my memory is correct, I think the glossary said that the war started after an assassination of a Duke or something, just like WWI.

its new to me that the game is getting so much attention in japan but maybe it really is because of the anime and the manga.... just hope it does not continue segas tradition of releasing a mouth watering game only to have its sequel to be japan only
but the thought of a ps3 only vc2 really makes it seems like the console is finally out of the post launch "wait till the good game are released so the console is finally worth it" stage it has been as far as rpgs/srpgs are concerned
as for akvod i find the way you state your opinion about a complicated matter like the world wars in a matter of fact way to be troublesome ,it sounds so much like those cretins commenting on youtube who state stuff like that, like its as certain as the sky being blue or water being wet . just try to be less apodictic ...secluded in your statement... those discussion tend turn into bickering about political systems ..nations and so forth..thats more for the off topic section of the boards.. lets keep it about the game here.. i would be very grateful for that
its a common problem, not about you in particular.. its just your post that i noticed

VC is an amazing game but I agree it could go multiplat. Even the Wii could handle it.
