Forums - Nintendo - Wow i just Love Chrono Trigger!

Bought this game on Saturday and im about 11-12 hours in (ive just been defeated by that Golem wanker) and i have to say that this is one of the greatest RPG's i have ever played.(i know most of RPG fans have arleady played it countless amount of times)

I had a SNES in the past but only had a handful of games on it, never seen a PS1 version in a shop. I was tempted few times to grab a ROM (like i did with some FF games) but i finally got around to play it on the DS and that game is just incredible it really is hard to describe it.

The game has everything: great characters that do not speak to much rubbish, great story that is still unvealing,  great battle system ( i really disliked it in FF IV but here it seems to work just fine)

Oh and the Music, the tunes from this game have been stuck in my head since i played it first time, there is just something about this music.

Anyone who was like me and never played this title, should buy it its just pure magic. Im just off to play some more, hopefully i can finish it before this week ends.

If you like the awesome rpg Chrono Trigger, you will also love Secret of Mana :D

You should look into buying it.

Yep Chrono Trigger is a great game. The battle system with its double and triple techs are simpler than the final fantasy 4 and 6 battle systems. Probably why you like it so much.

Also, yeah get Secret of Mana. It's a great game.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

Yeah, it's amazing in pretty much every respect.

One of Square's greatest RPGs. Imo superior to most of the Final Fantasy series. Glad you enjoy it!

Not in Europe, we had to settle for FFIV and V.

I just don't understand...

I found it so uncompelling. The only positive thing I can say about it is that it avoids most of the pitfalls jRPG's tend to fall into. I guess my biggest gripe is that in spite of the fact that it's about time travel, there have been zero consequences when I've gone back in time, zero mechanics relating to time travel, in the few hours I've played it for. It's just been a linear plot with nothing that has yet been interesting....

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
