When did they leave?...right after Rare was sold to MS?
1. Rare made about 2 games per year at best
2. Rare now is pretty poor compared to N64 days.... Viva Pinata looks ok but the rest looks dire.

Nintendo should have bought Blizzard, let them free to do as they wished but request a Gem for their console every gen...
Since Bliz is RPG/Strat oriented, that definitely would have hit on one of the missing Nintendo areas.

| JGarret said: "1) Release Fatal Frame" @Benga You mean Fatal Frame 4 which came out some time ago in Japan?..has it been released in Europe for you? Here in the U.S., I´m not sure we´re getting it...if I´m not mistaken, Reggie said it´s not coming. |
Its been confirmed for Q4 in the US, no specific date yet. Expect a holiday release
BTF, I don't really think that's it at all. As others have mentioned "Rare" is really nothing but a preference to how people like their meat served. Basically, they are pretty irrelevant now. They've really done nothing to enhance 360's lineup, and will probably be released from M$ before too long.
What Wii needs in order to please all gamers is AAA Third Party efforts. This in addition to Nintendo's stellar first party offerings would be a gamers dream come true..it would be like the SNES all over again.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Cool. Good to hear. You're one of the few people I don't need to have a link from in order to believe it's true. Who's publishing?

Link? I hope it's not a rumour, but an official confirmation.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
Start releasing games more often, most people are tired of waiting 2.5 years to play the next mario, zelda, and princess peach game. Why in the world does nintendo only release one major mario game a generation? that seems idiotic to me, plus because of this most third parties are starving on the wii (core gamers are so rabid that waiting this long usually causes them to not buy any non 1st party titles).
| BTFeather55 said: Rare. If Nintendo still had Rare, they would have a studio putting out core games like additional platformers and quality exclusive fpgs games like Perfect Dark while the big N works on their blue ocean games. The biggest complaint about the Wii is that it isn't featuring enough games for the Core gamers. Nintendo replies that third-parties aren't doing enough for them. However, if they still had Rare as a strong second party developer like Sony has Naughty Dog and Insomniac, then it would be problem solved. |
Hmm no.
Nintendo would need to have:
HD capable hardware
Resonable pricing
Cheap game series instead of ripping people off full price no matter when something was released.
Something like adult oriented content.

@JGarret
yeah the stamper brothers left Rare after they made Kameo, perfect dark zero, and viva pinata. those were their last games.
But yeah, they founded rare and then left to do other things. I think I remember them saying something about not wanting to do anything with games anymore.
I would say that they were probably getting hassled for sales. None of those games sold as well as they should have.
