i doubt it. M$ will probably release first again next gen because of one simple fact... THEY CAN!! they have the money and resources and can release another console that will completly blow the PS3's graphics out of the water and then sony loses its last advantage that it has over the 360. Once that happens SONY will be forced to release another console in order to appease their fanboy graphics whores.

This is correct. The gap was 5 million at its lowest point - right before the 360's price cut last year.  The 360 managed to gain 3 million units on the ps3 in a span of only three months (October, November, and December).  This shows the true power of the holiday season, and this is why I find it funny when people say that the ps3 could never catch up to the 360.  Things can change drastically over the holidays depending on the moves each company makes, and we don't know what could happen down the road.

Hell, before Microsoft dropped the price of the 360 many people thought it was a given that the ps3 would overtake the 360 in just a couple of years.  The entire outlook of the generation can change in mere months.  Nothing is certain.

Kind of funny that PS3 is 5 months ahead of the 360 when it comes to sells in the same amount of time from launch.

As to the OP: Over time the PS3 will drop its price. Eventually it will get to $200-250. I seriously doubt the 360 will sell for $0-50. So no, I don't think the 360 can match or exceed PS3 price cuts for the whole generation.

I could argue more things, but I don't really want to here; I just couldn't pass that up. I mean, the PS3 has farther to drop, so it will drop farther. ?

@ninlenbox, no the bad sales don't mean its a bad product, it means they lost touch with what consumors want. The shooter world is going in the direction of co-op on line and split screen. This is almost necessary now. Killzone 2 didn't. Even Resident evil 5 had it .uncharted doesn't look better than gears of war 2 and a regular looking dude shooting a full clip into people to kill them isn't easy to mass market. Flower is interesting for girls and artsy people. A demographic the ps3 doesn't have. And sony does buy exclusives. MgS4 says high.
