I'm a bit optimistic so I'll say
Yes! :D
What do you think? :/
Yes, we should see some permanent settlement there by about 2050, I would certainly be disappointed if I was not around then
What I am more concerned about is when everyone will have flying cars, I want to be living then
Yes, I think so.
Even if it doesn't happen soon (and I don't think it'll happen soon), I expect some big-time breakthroughs in longevity medicine over the next fifty years or so...
If we find a reason to settle on there e.g. mining or farming, then yes.
If we don't have a reason because we find it is just as desolate as we once thought then no
Yes; I hope so. But we have to perfect the necessary technology on Earth first, such as growing essential plants in controlled conditions, some form of atmospheric regulation, and making it so that you don't need years of training to stay there.
We have to be prepared to commercialise it (not the scientific discoveries made; the mining, space transport and resource industries). That would provide enough funding for a permanent settlement.
I'd rather hope for a settlement on the moon, cheaper real estate most likely. I do hope to live that long to see mankind actually make real progress in settling other planets.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Bet: If Kingdom Hearts 3 becomes a multiplaform title/is not Wii exclusive then I will be banished from this land for 1 week and sing my praises to those who have proved themselves to be more intelligent than I.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/RDBRaptor/rdbraptor_sig16.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">
My Anime List
Ah, I could talk a lot about this.
Essentially, permanent settlements are a no-go because of economics. Minor settlements to accommodate scientific crews on two year missions is all we will see in our lifetime, I'm afraid. Current temptative schedules puts man on mars around 2030, give or take 10-20 years depending on politics.
We have a long, long, way to go before setting foot on Mars. If you wanna know our current standing, I suggest you peek NASA's advance of design reference 5.0 (since Mars is a moving goal, NASA keeps updating their reference design every few years to update it with latest technology).
