Also I agree with the slug guy.

| leo-j said: Wow, you guys do know that the article that said that nintendo was worth more than sony for a moment was only in japan right? This does not inlcued the rest of the world just japan. |
No, it was a list of Japaneese companies and Nintendo was worth more than Sony; it was the value of their total market capitalization. Basically, Nintendo's total stock value is greater than Sony's because Nintendo has a healthier Asset-Liability equation and greater growth rate meaning their value is far greater.
Remember the news, I do not post links here 'cause you can find them easily on Google (search for "Sony's most profit division") and you'll find that Sony's profit comes from other divisions rather than gaming division (which is giving them losses).
The market is an ever-changing thing and if there's a company that adapts quickly to market changes is Sony, for example if they lose the format war it's fine maybe they lost money with the research of Blu-Ray but they can profit by selling millions of HD-DVD players in very short time to recover market-share (remember Beta vs. VHS battle?). What if they lose with the PS3 and the PSP? Not the end of the world for Sony, they can develop a new console by avoiding mistakes made this gen and get back to the fight.
Already @ Seattle
btw it wont end sony, just a decent huge blow and mostly just because of the loss of blue ray, and slightly of the ps3
With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.| leo-j said: @happy squrriel It was only japan not the rest of the world. |
Please learn more about finances and companies before making stupid statements like that. Sony and Nintendo are both Japanese companies and hence their company as a whole is listed on the Japanese stock market. The market already takes into account ALL of their operations in all countries. The same deal with American companies. Global companies based in the US have their market caps reflective of their worldwide operations.
If Nintendo in Japan is valued higher than Sony then they are bigger pure and simple in market cap. There's a big disconnect between a company's market cap and how much revenue/asset they hold however. Too complicated to go into but suffice it to say, Nintendo company is now worth more than Sony company.
Back on topic:
Massive conglomerate companies like Sony have a lot of divisions. But that's not necessarily a strength. Often times with companies like that, several divisions will be in the red and others will be in the green and they support each others when the market for each division fluctuates.
Sony's gaming division has been their profit engine for several years during the PS/PS2 era but that's ending in the PS3 era. Luckily for them, during the PS/PS2 era they were getting killed in other consumer electronic areas like computers/cameras/etc but are now doing well in those areas. So those divisions are now supporting the PS3 profit hole. If they don't manage to resolve the PS3 profit issue and their other divisions start doing bad for a prolonged period of time then what would happen is a major restructuring operation.
This is very normal and done by companies all the time. They will spinoff their poor performing divisions to other companies and focus on their core divisions where they see their future. Whether they decide PS4+ will be in their core future or not is up to their management but that is what will happen.
nope Sony doesnt need their game division to make money, they make a profit every fiscal year no matter how bad the division does.

No. You shouldn't comment on something you have zero knowledge. Unless you're being sarcastic, then ignore what I said.
