You are being reasonable and yes I will give you a reasonable response: I fear that Nintendo has become complacent even arrogant in their success. We have seen what happens when a gaming company gets too complacent. This gen we saw what happened to Sony. Actually we have even seen it happen to Nintendo in the past. I say Nintendo should be aggressively be fighting for quality 3rd party games on Wii instead of taking a "fuck you we are in first place" approach to it's lineup. In the short term it may work well in the long term it will hurt them. As Wii owners and fans we should not buy into BS PR spin talking about Core, casual, and niche. We should be straight up with ourselves and Nintendo that the lineup quality is staggeringly behind the HD twins.

....Unless you share the value sets that many people do, making the Wii's lineup the best by miles.

There is no single value set that people adhere to. There is no single authority on or measure of quality. The sooner you let go of that idea, the better off you will be.

It's true what they say love is blind. I love Nintendo too. But can see they are not without many major faults.

Oh for Heaven's sake.

Let me make sure I have this straight.

Are you saying, because I acknowledge that people have different htings they look for in vido games, and their tastes are no less valid than mine or yours, that I am biased toward Nintendo?

I am saying that you love Nintendo so much that you think they can do no wrong. Period.

That is ridiculous; I made a post about this very subject earlier in the topic when theprof00 accused me of a Nintendo bias: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=1989787

He had the good grace to admit he was wrong.

Finally the cat is out of the bag and the thread starter is starting to outright troll. Not that we didn't know that it was always about that in the first place.

Anyway, those ridiculous comments are always good for a laugh.

I'm a troll? Right back at you. Stop trying to derail my thread.

Troll stop. Are you able?

Okay. STOP.

What's your argument?

I've read 150 posts (or something), and I still have no clue what you're really trying to say.

I'd like to give some constructive feedback, but people will just derail it more if you don't make any rails to start with.

Wait, how can you blame Nintendo for this?

Apparently, they're pleasing the users of this site, which are "core" (I too dislike that word), while they're mainly approaching their mainstream users.

Nintendo is releasing more quality games than any other publisher. By a huge amount.

So, the real problem is the 3rd parties. Can you blame Nintendo for that? No - you can't blame someone for selling more than their competitors. Now, why are they selling more? Well, probably because they hit their targetted audience. Obviously, this isn't the same audience as the Ps360 (which are very much alike).

Thus, Nintendo is left with some choices.

- Let their own games sell like hell

Or

- Somehow make (probably by paying) third parties that make less interesting games (on Wii that's the situation so far) make games for Wii.

You cannot blame Nintendo for this! They made the cheapest to develop for console - by far. Shouldn't that be enough?

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

Pretty sure the "core" and "casual" labels weren't dreamed up by Wii fans: they were constructs of PS3/360 fans who needed a way to dismiss the Wii's success.

The Wii doesn't sell "core" games; it sells "casual" games, and apparently we don't care about those, so PS3/360 win!

That's basically how the logic goes. If you want to do away with the core/casual divide, please understand that I am all for that. Just also recognize that consequences of that choice. Are we all ready to do away silly labels and admit that Nintendo is just plain old, flat out winning?

I certainly hope so, but I doubt that's what the original poster had in mind.

Why don't you simply use a quote of you critisizing the big N,instead of a link that points to anther 3 or 4 links? I'm trying to get on with my day and off this site without you claiming I don't have the conviction to answer your questions.

But look at MS moneyhat for DLC and timed exclusives. Look at Sony offer to pay half of development costs for games. That is an example of them aggresively seeking out third party support. If Nintendo was even half as aggresive this conversation would not be warrented. But they don't do that at all because they are selling well which is good for them in the short term. But again what's good for Nintendo is not necessarily good for the consumer. And on a long term scale could very well hurt them.

@ Bod: The very point is that Nintendo winning the sales war has nothing to do with the quility of the Wiis lineup and is in fact hurting it.

Sorry, if you donn't take the time to address the points at hand, that's far from being my fault.

Again: you are assuming everyone holds to the same value metrics as you. They do not. You are in the extreme minority.

That's a reasonable position, Mega. I'm not sure I agree that the Wii's lineup is poor (I do own more Wii games than 360 or PS3 games), but I understand that preferences may differ. That's not the point I'm arguing at the moment and I really don't want to get in to list wars.

I just want to make sure we all understand the consequence of this thread: again, we are implicitly agreeing that Nintendo is plain old, flat out winning. If everyone agrees with that, I'm perfectly willing to leave it at that and exit the thread.
