 Relax bro.

To answer your question there isn't a problem with people enjoying Wii fit. I have a problem with with Wii fit outselling MadWorld 21 to one. I want to see less Wii Fit and more Madworld. Not no Wii Fit but not more. But when Wii fit sells 11-12 million and madworld sells 50-60 thousand copies what do you think will happen?

Why do you think the next Zelda Wii hasn't been announced? Because Nintendo is not compelled. Think about it. Gamecube got 2 zeldas in 5 years. Excluding a Gamecube port the Wii has 0.

What was the last beat'em up game to sell millions?

Wow. You're comparing something like Wii Fit with something like MadWorld? I don't think your problem is that you hate people using "niche" and "core", I think it's that you simply do not understand the concept of different demographics.

@ megadude

madworld sellers was never going to be a million seller. the subject is going to put off a lot of casual players, whilst core players are getting put off by the niche art style. nevertheless i believe the game well reach a respectable 350k over time. see i defended the sales of a game using the terms casual core and niche. what is wrong with this again?

Look at it from another perspective ...

Think of the kind of gamers who are looking to play a game like MadWord, and the kinds of gamers who are looking to play Wii Fit. While there are far more people who are looking for a Wii Fit, there are far more games designed to apeal to the MadWorld crowd. In other words, Wii Fit dramatically outsells MadWorld because it appeals to a much larger demographic and there are far fewer games that exist within the same marketspace.

Hold on. I'm going to savor you taking that many of my posts and replying to the only one that didn't contain an argument in it. Hold on, I'm going to quote them at you now that I have your attention. This is me:

Oh so it is about the Wii selling "shovelware", I see. Why do you keep changing your mind? Were you okay with people having different value sets ten minutes ago, but you aren't now? What happened in the interim? You are being neither consistent nor logical inn your viewpoint, and you are not actually making any supporting arguments.
You seem to be confused as to exactly what your message is supposed to be, here, or else you are dropping points as we go along because they make no sense whatsoever.

You want new, interesting, and quality games on the Wii? Go pre-order Little King's Story, go buy Rune Factory: Frontier, sit down with World of Goo, scrounge up Zack and Wiki, then come back to me. You dig?

That's all I'll quote from myself for now.

Basically you are saying that you don't want games like Wii Fit to dominate.

Too late. Games like Wii Fit are redefining the market. People who want what Wii Fit offers, what Carnival Games offers, what Wii Sports offers, what Wii Music offers? They are the new powers in the industry. They are why Link's Crossbow Training is going to outsell MGS4 within eight weeks from now. They want what Nintendo is giving them, and they are legion. You don't like it? Get used to it anyway, because this trend is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

You think that Wii Fit is going to outsell Mad World 21-to-1? If Mad World ever made it to a million, Wii Fit would have broken thirty million by that point. It is selling more every two months than some people predict Madworld will sell in its entire shelf life. Estimates put it finishing at 25 million as a bare minimum. There's speculation that it may outsell the PS3. That a game will outsell an entire rival platform, something that is unprecedented in the history of the industry (when you consider that the NES had no real competition). Nintendo has tapped into a market which will give them so much money that they are almost literally invincible.

No, core gaming will not go away, because making those games ends up getting Ninteno a lot of money, too. The return on investment for Twilight Princess, Galaxy, Brawl, MKWii? Huge. They make tremendous amounts of money off of these franchises and will continue to produce them for that reason: the continued, paying loyalty of a certain segment of their customer base.

Now, do I care that Wii Fit outsells Mad World by at least 50-to-1 by the time both of them are done selling? No. I don't. because my perspective on the gaming industry allows for other people with their own money to partake even if they don't share my views, my opinions, or my buying habits.

Trying to convince people to buy "real" games isn't just futile, it's insipid. It would be like trying to convince them to buy "real" moves or "real" books - "don't pick up that Tom Clancy novel, you mainstream fool, don't you know what you're getting into!?" you might say, and it would be just as ridiculous as what you are suggesting here.

The meaning of what defines a good game is no longer in the same hands as it once was. Get used to it. This ride isn't over yet.

Okay. Is anyone here going to come up with a structured argument?

There's no reason to.

sure there is. I can up the costs of not posting anything in this thread. Since rol pays me off, I might as well lend some services.

So, the thread is now flaimbait/spam, and baselessly attacked VGChartz, which also breaks the rules. Which deserves at least a warning for the OP. If the OP can find a single post (just 1) within 3 days, then no action will be taken, how does that sound as a incentive for paying me $500/month

a bunch of links I'll read later

Now when was the last time you shut down a thread that was trolling blatantly on the PS3 as vehemently as you are trying to derail my thread? I'm calling you out Nordlead.

I can't say I shut down this thread, but whatever. I banned someone for trolling PS3 sales numbers (ok, maybe he was claiming they were too low, but whatever). I locked a thread made by starcraft for supposedly trolling KZ2 (even though I didn't think it was).

Honestly, I have a PS3, and have been playing it a lot lately. In fact, most mods have a HD console, and a lot have all 3 consoles, so whatever bias you are trying to point out doesn't exist.

About the only forum section on this website I don't enter often is the Microsoft section, because I have little interest in the console since I don't own one.

Anyways, I'll be back to read the rest of this thread when I get home and have a decent PC to browse on.

Now what's so bad about this?

Based on past precedents (track record of the developer, genre, art style), how much did you expect MadWorld to sell?

Blame Wii Fit.....literally this time

Now, now clarify for me, I just wanna make sure, I think you are blaming Wii Fit for the influx of buyers who would purchase games that appeal to value sets which are not congruent with your own, or what some might call "shovelware".

Is that about right, that you're saying Wii owners buy crappy games? Am I on the level, here?

Not that they buy crappy games....just not what we consider "core" games. Then Nintendo has to refocus what games come to their console, so we see more games to the tune of Wii Fit (in terms of appeal), than we do the likes of MadWorld.

Sure, MadWorld is "niche" and Wii Fit appeals to a larger audience, which is why Wii Fit sold a billion and MadWorld didn't. But realizing this, why would Nintendo invest more in "core" games instead of games with larger appeal?
