Forums - Sales - Sonic & The Secret Rings Sales in Japan

TheSource said: It seems Sonic is no longer even popular enough to get an exclusive thread...
I have been away a few days, and plan to pick it up this weekend ;) How many people here have played it? Any comments? Im a little torn between Sonic, SSX Blur & Tiger Woods. Sonic games have almost always disapointed me - whereas I really enjoyed the first SSX title. But I'd like "pure" games over sport sims / snowboarding games anyday... so its probably Sonic. I'll post some comments once I get it...

I like it. I'm on the final boss...have not unlocked all the missions yet though. It is good for 20-25 hours to get through every mission once...

Too easy. Too short. I never said anything about a game resembling the original being a kiddie game.

Go back and play SMB3 or SMW and you'll find the same problems

No - you said this one is a "kiddie" game, and it resembles the original.... hence the conclusion. So you have collected every coin? That took me a few months. Or at least finished/unlocked every level? No, probably not that either. Go back and play the original. This one takes about 10x longer to complete than SMB did. Its actually a very long game - if you play it properly. Easy - sure, unless you want to finish it properly. Some of the levels are *really* challenging, and some of the coins are... insane. Remember, its a game for "casual" gamers - my wife got up to the very last level on her own (I was really impressed!).

My point isn't to slate NSMB. The point is regarding the Wiimote and lengthy adventure games. Nintendo have to incorporate a fairly complex Wiimote control scheme into this game, make it work so well that it can support the entire length of the game, and also make it simple enough so that kids can play. In other words, they have no choice but to dumb things right down. Anyway, that is my last word on the subject in this thread. It wasn't my intention to derail the topic. I'll start up the Mario Galaxy thread proper some time.

Dumbed down? I pray that Mario Galaxy is as "dumbed down" as NSMB, as that was one of the most fun games I played for ages. Sunshine was overly complicated, and it ruined the game to a certain extent. Anyway, its all good - bring 'em on!
