They'll do a price cut when they get desperate... I don't thinkk it's happening anytime soon.

I could see it. The ps3 will get a price cut and the PSP will finally be getting a really good line up of games.

But we will be seeing FFXIII in Japan, and possibly GT5 worldwide.

FFXIII in Japan will probably give the ps3 a boost similar to what MGS4 did worldwide.

Yes...  But only in Japan, and even with MG, sales were down overall.  One game that will do well in one region is not going to make a bigger impact than last year when one game did well worldwide.

Wishful thinking on Sony's part... they have said repeatedly there won't be a price cut.

Debatable.  The ps3 only sold 334k the week MGS4 was released.  FFXIII will probably break 2 million in Japan lifetime, and it'll probably be able to boost the ps3 to over 200k in Japan upon release (MGS4 managed to boost the ps3 to 77k).  Toss in another 130k for the ps3's NA/EU numbers, and you have over 300k yet again.

But the situation will be different this time.  The ps3 will have likely recieved a price cut before then, and FFXIII will probably hit Japan during the Western holiday season, so sales in NA/EU will be up anyway.

They have said they don't have immediate plans for a pricecut.  Do you really think the ps3 won't get any cut at all this year?
