Great news! My insider at Nintendo (We meet at the GDC; longstory short we're buds now) told me that they're making a successor to Super Mario Bros. for WiiWare called "Super Mario Bros. - Shell Crazy".
No, this is not going to be a sequel to the New Super Mario Bros. game instead they're going back to using sprites (instead of polygons) and video game sounds (instead of voice actors). This time Toad and the Princess would join in as playable characters again. Also, all the SMB3 power-ups are said to be returning (Fire Flower, Warp Wistle, Tanooki Suite etc.) as well as new ones like Water Worm and Crab Suite. You're also going to be able to play online against people; doing speed runs to see who can reach the end of the game the fastest.
I was told that they were going to officially announce it later today! Don't forget you heard it here first.
