Namco originally had no intentions of bringing Tales of Symphonia to the US. However, Nintendo later asked for Namco to bring Symphonia to the US and offered to publish the localized version. Nintendo funded the translations, voice acting, and also helped promote the game by giving it a front cover on Nintendo Power. The game went on to sell fairly well in the US. Seeing as it was published by Nintendo outside of Japan, it is highly unlikely that the PlayStation 2 version will ever be released outside of Japan.

Plus, Namco brought Eternal Sonata out of Japan.
Namco already localized the game once, and they still have access to all the voice overs, etc. It would be waste not to localize this one. They'd have to add just a few lines for the new girl.
Looking at Symphonia, even IF they wanted to bring the ps3 version outside of Japan (when they really didn't want to bring either version outside of Japan), they would've had to relocalize the game themselves, as everything done for the GC version would've been in the hands of Nintendo.

Exactly, that's the reason PS2 didn't get this game in the US (it would've been amazing since this version was enhanced), and since Tales of Vesperia is not published by MS here, there's no restriction...
So Year of The PS3 JRPGs confirmed?
All I know is that MS is going to be coming HARD at E3 or they can hang in the towel for Sales and Quality this year

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

You guys really have faith in Namco USA... poor souls! When it comes to Namco USA... you are better to be surprised that the game comes over than be disappointed by them... trust me.

If that's the case then they feel the same slap we got from the very same Namco Bandai 2 years ago. Then again MS wouldn't care as it was the agreement, right?

I wouldn't really say this because PSP, and DS always trump all consoles in terms of RPG. I even think Wii has a better lineup this year in terms of jrpgs.

Better not shout it out loud before we'll get the same bomb throwing at us, like last year.
