| Sardauk said: Great game ! But no Halo Killer to me. The quality of an FPS is not in its music or graphics (fanboyism criteria..), but rather in its (perfectly tuned) multiplayer and that is where Halo 3 stands out (and lives...). Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy KZ2 a lot ! But it will never reach the quality and perfection (and fun) level of an Halo3. |
This.

Halo 3 is such an epic game though....i doubt K2 has done enough. Maybe K3

Killzone 2, despite being an excellent game is not a halo killer.
Consider gale force winds against a huge tree with deep deep roots!

KZ2 has fantastic graphics, artwork, colors etc.... but even in multiplayer, it is more a COD4 remake than anything else. Without the class system, I wouldn't play it.
Ex: I was playing a KZ2 map tuesday. Some (tactitcian-class) guy managed to throw a deploiement grenade next to the objectif several times... it ended up in a confusing-repetitive-noisy-blood bath... Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy KZ2 a lot ! But it will never reach the quality and perfection (and fun) level of an Halo3. |
^^ Well written, intelligent, and right on point (IMO). KZ2 still rocks though!
As a game it destroys every Halo.
Sales do not reflect it because it does not have a cult following.
I'm sure many games surpass other games of the same genre in the same generation all the time (quality-wise) The impact of certain games in a generation, THAT is difficult to surpass. In the case of Halo 3 coming from an already well-established franchise, it practically SOLD the X360 for a whole year(Gears 1 helped a lot, but Halo3 was king of XLive). That's an impact I doubt any other game not named "Wii Sports" (which is THE king of impact) has this generation. Killzone 2 could arguably have surpassed Halo 3 as a FPS (gameplay-wise) as I'm sure Nintendo or someone else could surpass Wii Sports in terms of quality, but the impact, more importantly than sales, would be very difficult (if possible) to match.
In my humble opinion, there's still not a game on the PS3 that has had such an impact for it as Wii Sports or Halo 3 had for their respective consoles. Resistance 1 didn't make it, and Killzone 2 certainly won't. Metal Gear Solid 4 (sadly perhaps, but understandable) didn't. The impact of GTA4 was diminished and wasted since it went multiplatform, same with Call of Duty 4 (although this one could be the third major impact this gen, in spite of being multiplatform).
KZ2 > Halo 3.
CoD4 > KZ2.
The simple fact remains for me... after playing Killzone2 for quite a while, CoD4 : Modern Warfare is STILL the best FPS game to date.

"Tell me when Halo3 gets clan valor support, class-based and experience-based multiplayer, when its not on rail shooter like most shooting games are (oh you cant go where you want you go the preplanned route with 10 feet of movement) and bots for offline skirmishes." Sounds stupid because each game has features the other one has not? Then let's stop the stupidity, shall we :)

Are you talking about Halo 1? Halo has had experience-based multiplayer since part 2. It also had clan support which really isn't needed in Halo 3 thanks to the awesome party system it has.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
