Forums - Nintendo - Fellow NINTENDIANS! Do you expect to see a Star Fox or F-Zero this year?

As some of you probably know, I'm a massive Star Fox fanboy. Ever since the Wii was unveiled I've been giddy with excitement when thinking of how awesome a Star Fox-game would be for the console. Yet, now, 2½ years have passed, and nothing.

I think these are Nintendo's only somewhat major franchises that haven't really been mentioned at all since E3 2006 (where Miyamoto said it would be cool controlling an Arwing with the wiimote, and also saying that F-Zero would probably work better without motion controls). Thinking of how awesome F-Zero looked on the GC, I can only imagine what it'd be like on the Wii.

Both of these games are something that most core gamers really want. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about Nintendo - Far from it. I'm more than happy with their first/second-party offerings up until now, although I will admit that the latter half of 2008 was somewhat lacking. But I firmly believe that when they release games, they'll all be worth the wait.

So, I ask you all, do you think the wait for Star Fox and/or F-Zero will be over this year? Or will painful uncertainty keep crippling me during the next 9 months as well? ;_;

Ive been waiting for this announcement for Soooo long, Nintendo doesn't give Fox(and some others) enough love....but I dont think we'll see them this year Since Nintendo's takin a backseat atm

I hope to see them... at least trailer. Star Fox mostly

I'd love to see a Star Fox game come out this year, and I think it's pretty probable!

Haters conveniently seem to always forget that Nintendo (especially the past few years) is extremely hush hush about their games until they're close to release. Who knows what could be in store for this year?

I'm thoroughly convinced that we will not be seeing an F-Zero game this gen on the Wii. I've reached this decision based on two reasons, controls and tech.

F-Zero is just too tech heavy dependent a franchise. You mention the Gamecube version; I'm playing it right now and it's an absolute blast of a game and one of the best looking games of it's Gen, as was the Snes version. But the Wii isn't going to be able to pull off anything exceptional technically. It could match the speed and graphics of the Gamecube version plus some, but it would be only a minor improvement. And on a series that relies on speed and touts it's looks so highly, it would be hard to see a Wii version not coming across as a bit of a disappointment.

The other reason is controls. F-Zero has incredibly precise and hard to master controls. Controls that I'm not sure the Wii wheel is going to be able to pull of to a proper degree. And Nintendo probably isn't going to update one of their major franchises and leave the game only using a traditional controls scheme.

So I think F-Zero is going to sit at least this gen out, as some franchises do. Heck, we're just now getting new Punch out and Sin & Punishment games. But I fully expect to see a kick ass F-Zero one Gen from now.

Stof may be right about F-Zero, though I hope he's wrong.

Nothing keeping us from an awesome Starfox, though!

Did anybody like Star Assault??

I hope so too :x I think one reason why Star Fox and F-Zero might be taking time is due to online. Considering Star Fox Command had online battles, I'm expecting Star Fox Wii to probably have it as well.

I loved Star Fox Assault. Sure, it wasn't any Star Fox 64, but I think it was a great game.

Star Fox might just be getting a sit out for a while after some questionable business decisions. "Hey, this dinosaur game looks great, we should wrap the Starfox license on it".

Nintendo might be giving it some time on the benches just so that when they do come out with another it will be percieved with unbiased eyes. They don't want to lose the Starfox reputation.
