In terms of just the gaming division of Sony, it didn't gain as much profit as suspected. Just over $2 billion over the life of the PS2 where as Nintendo made 3 times that much in profit during the GC life (obviously GBA and DS played huge roles).

Actually he's the oldest person to ever become president of Nintendo.
Sounds weird, doesn' t it?
The founder of the company, Fusajiro Yamauchi, was 30 years old when he founded Nintendo. His son-in-law, Sekiryou Kaneda/Yamauchi (took the old guys when he married his daughter) became president when he was 28, and the second guy's grandson, Hiroshi Yamauchi, was 29 when he was made the next boss.
Compared to these, Satoru was pretty old at 42 when he took the job. =P

On topic: Iwata has done a good job, but without many other people (Miyamoto being one of them) Nintendo wouldn't be where it is today.
