Just looked at the numbers for this year and saw these numbers

From 1st of Jan to 21st of March PS3 Worldwide Sales = 2.179m Sold

From 1st of Jan to 21st of March 360 Worldwide Sales = 2.655m Sold

= 360 Sold  476k more then the PS3.

Meaning if the 360 outsells the PS3 by 24k for last week sales will mean in the first 3 months of 2009 the 360 outsold the PS3 by half a million units already.

More unterestingly if you look at the same period last year you see

PS3 sold 2.326m Units in 08

360 sold 1.661m Units in 08

Meaning PS3 outsold 360 by 659k.

So year over year the PS3 fell by 147k (-6%)

360 year over year increased by 994k (+59%)

So this weeks numbers could/should see the 360 increase on last years sales by this period by a million units.

More intrestingly if we look at each region of sales we see these figures

America for 09  = 360 sold 1.201m units  and PS3 sold 795k Units. A difference of 406k

America for 08 = 360 sold 885k units  and PS3 sold 848k units. A difference of 37k

So in America the 360 increased by 316k or 31%. And the PS3 decreased by 53k or 6%

In Europe (total others)

For 09 = 360 sold 1.316m units   and PS3 sold 1.053m units.   A difference of 263k

For 08 = 360 sold 724k units   and PS3 1.142m units.   A difference of 418k

So in Europe the 360 increased by 592k or 81%. And the PS3 decreased by 89k or 7%

In Japan

For 09 = 360 sold 136k units and PS3 sold 330k units.  A difference of 194k

For 08 = 360 sold 50k units and PS3 sold 335k units. A difference of 285k

So in Japan the 360 increased by 86k or 172%. And the PS3 decreased by 5k or 3%

Which shows the biggest increase in the first 3 months of the year has been in Europe. Seeing an 81% increase on year over year 360 sales.

Wonder if the next 3 months will show the same pattern

MS really turned it around, although if the ps3 really is getting a cut, we could see another great turnaround

While Nintendo laughs all the way to the bank! You have to finish the story colonel!

what about games?

 The Wii sales for this year means it has sold 1.2m more units then same period last year. It has just broken 5m units worldwide for the first 3 months of 09. Don't think anything could compete with that. Even PS2.

Advantage: 360.

Last year at the time the Ps3 was fresh off of a price cut and xbox 360 did not have its price cut yet. But good job to the 360. If PS3 gets a price cut then it will look like it did last year at this time.

microsoft didnt turn anything around. the only thing they did was lower the price not once but twice and because of that it started outselling ps3. if ps3 had a price cut things will be more interesting. nonetheless ps3 is doing great! its worth the 400 dollars!
