Given that the videogame market is fragmenting, and that the global financial crisis continues unabated...I figure the Wii gen probably comes out ahead in early 2011, with Wii pulling ahead of the PS2 in late 2013.

The Wii will easily overtake the PS2, by the end of 2010 very possibly, by mid 2011 at the latest. Currently the Wii has sold 20 million more than the PS2 did in the same amount of time. The Wii will easily pass the entire last generation by itself.

I think source has the Wii slowing down agreat deal faster than it probably will

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I uh... think the Wii's sales are a little.. optimistic. Don't get me wrong, there is some fine statistical evidence to bakc them up. I just don't think history always follows the narrow, straight path.

Very interesting predictions though.
