Doesn't matter...

they're both reliable enough. The thing is... data tracking is really nothing more but a guess anyway.

They're rarely far enough away to where either number would be considered inaccurate....

and after another week or two the numbers are "magically" back in line with each other.  In which case by the jump it's easy to see who messed up... and it's just as often one as it is the other.

Isn't there a 1 million difference between the PS2s lifetime totals?

I thought one of them had it around 21.5 million, and the other almost 22.5 million.

That's only a 10% statistical variance.  That's at the edge but it's not unreasonable when you consider that both numbers are estimates with statstical variance.

I mean assuming both had a reliability of being withing 5% of the real number They could be as much as 10% apart before you could say one of the two was off.

I think the accepted they have is usually like 5-10% each.

Your number are right.

It's vgchartz which have the ps2 at 22,8m.

the difference between the two are 10k at most.

media create comes later with more than rounded numbers.

Some hard data about MediaCreate:

Characteristics of the two data sources and a wealth of high coverage

Retail POS data are based. Coverage of data sources, roughly 57%, and cover a wide range of businesses. In addition, the availability of pre-shipment and digestive conditions, trends and data around pre-owned, and used as a complementary qualitative information from interviews with the store.

I read that Media Create's ~60% coverage is better than Famitsu.
