So, yesterday I was playing through the Killzone 2 campaign, and I had to stop right at the last level (at least, I think it's the last level). Today, I went to turn on my PS3 the same way I always do; the PS button. Well, I press it and nothing happens. Nothing at all. I'm thinking, well I was a bit rough on my controller yesterday, so maybe I did something to it. I try my other DS3. Nothing. Now, I'm thinking well crap, I didn't even use this one yesterday. So, I try my two Sixaxis controllers. Nothing.

I've found that the only way I can use my controllers with my PS3, for anything, is to have them connected by the charging cable.

Has anyone had any problems like this?

Never experienced something like this, but from the sound of it, the problem might be the bluetooth in your PS3.

Not to sound like an obvious ass, but have you tried letting them charge fully?

Yes, actually. The second DS3 was fully charged. The first one had 2 bars left, since I had been using it yesterday, and my Sixaxis ones were probably not fully charged since they've been sitting around for a while doing nothing.

I've almost worn my DS3 out. The R2 has no resistance and press right in, while the L2 still does. Also it makes a loud whooshing noise when it rumbles.

I figured out that I can fix the problem by pressing the reset button on the back of the controller... Apparently it is an issue with the bluetooth connection.

And I also have a problem with the R2 button. It's basically useless for games like WipEout, where my finger needs to be right there in case I need it, but the slightest touch sends me flying into walls. =/

see if you can turn on the ps3 wirelessly.

Yeah this happened to me before. I had to turn off the PS3 at the back then turn back on and re-sync all my controllers using the USB cable to the PS3.

Its only happened once to me and still am not sure why.. could be to much interference with all my bluetooth devices in my room (PC, 2x laptops, Phone, Keyboard, Mouse, Headset and ps3 remote).

that's definitely a possibility. My controllers fight with my house phones all the time. Usually they win too....
