Forums - Nintendo - Which WiiWare and Virtual Console Games should I get next?

I'm surprised you don't have Secret of Mana. It's a pretty solid action RPG.

I should pick that up, never played it but I love RPGs, exspecially SNES JRPGs

WiiWare:

Toki Tori - a fun game with over 70 levels, very good cost/value ratio
Lost Winds - good platformer, but only about three hours long

Virtual Console:

Mega Man 2 and 3 (NES) - best games in the series
Super Metroid (SNES) - best game of all time
Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 (SNES) - both better than the first game
Sin & Punishment (N64) - fantastic on rails shooter
Neutopia I and II (TG16) - good Zelda clones

Trust me, those games are worth it.

I have heard Lost Winds was good, and I don't mind short games as long as they are good. What exactly is Toki Tori, as in what do you do in it? I've been meaning to get MegaMan 2 because I remember it being much better than the first but is 3 good as well? I had Donkey Kong 1-3 on the SNES so i'll get those eventually by they are not my first priority. Been meaning to download Sin & Punishment, and Zelda clones!! I love it!

I LOVE spending other people money!

You seem to like SRPGs: get Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen IMMEDIATELY. Tons of content, very deep, unique, and overall fantastic. I can't recommend this game enough.

A good ARPG is Ys I+II. Also worth it, although less so than Ogre Battle. Ditto for Secret of Mana, although that one has the added advantage of allowing three players.

On the WiiWare front, look in bit.trip.beat and see if it's for you.

Ogre Battle is out? I am currently looking for it on the Download channel as I type with the other hand (it is accually quite difficult :)
Never played Ys 1 or 2 but if they're good RPGs then I'm all in.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Golden Axe 2 (Genesis) is a pretty bad ass beat them up. It is fun to play with a friend also. Contra 3 (SNES) is pretty tight also. If you like flying shooters Lords of Thunder (TG-16) is pretty tight.

Golden Axe and Contra will definetly get downloaded (eventually) and now that i'm looking in the genesis section I see Shining Force 2.... that has promise as well.

You don't have Lost Winds or Toki Tori!

Lost Winds is a beautiful little platformer, which should take you between 2.5 - 4 hours to complete 100%.... but it is good enough to go through a couple more times.

Toki Tori is a very challenging 2D puzzler which I have often described as a 2D version of Zack and Wiki.... except Z&W has a range of motion based tasks... while Toki Tori is just simple point and click, with the main task being to collect eggs.... made difficult because you have to extensively plan your route beforehand making sure you have enough of whatever items you are given (bridges, teleports and such) to get every egg.
Well worth it and very rewarding when you finally figure out a puzzle you are tuck on.

Yup, Ogre Battle came out about two or three weeks ago, and I've been pimping it ever since. Hope you found it!

Ys I+II is just one game (they're essentially bundled). Don't expect a deep experience, but it's a fun and fast-paced one that lasts about seven to eight hours, and which has one of the best music selection around.

Secret of Mana is incredibly buggy, but still a masterpiece. It's great by yourself, but when you add in the two friends the fun really starts.

Whichever games you pick, hope you enjoy!

^ glad to hear Contra getting gotten(awesome grammer ppl live up to it)

Yea, Contra is pretty tight. I have Super C d/led also but unfortunately they don't have the first Contra on VC yet....  Also, I am waiting for Final Fight 2 because I think the first Final Fight was only single player.

^ 3rd Cotra was enogh for me, I still can't beleive I have Contra 4 for DS

Ogre battle for the vc without a doubt. I also have spent many hours with dr mario

Get Secret of Mana immediately!

if on the other hand, you feel like saving your precious wii points for later, you should be on the lookout for the night game and the my life as a king sequel for wiiware, and majora's mask for vc (it's coming out in japan soon, so it's probably gonna come stateside eventually.)

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=47568
