Nope. Madworld will stop selling this week and that will tell all developers to halt all their games and kiddify them. I'm looking to dismembering jigglypuffs on Dead Space :D

Is that really true?  Or is it just a tease?

Hahaha!

It's true!

In case it's a serious question:

Silent Hill Remake
Dead Space Extraction
Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles
Cursed Mountain
No More Heroes 2
Overlord Dark Legend
The Conduit
Fatal Frame 4
Sin & Punisjment 2

Don't know if these are all rated mature, but it's "mature" content.

Don't expect many more M rated games (or games with a budget for that matter) that have not already been announced.
Madworld was a key game for the future of the wii. Its failure means the wii will continue to be a haven for shovelware. Expect the latter half of 09 to be horrible.

Yeah sure.

If publishers were waiting for MadWorld to approve their projects the game would have been ready 2011 earliest. Publishers ARE already majorly shifting to Wii and it will obviously never be the default place for mature content. But this doesn't mean there won't be any.

By the way, how many great games are rated Mature after all. I'm glad the JRPG train is rolling.

The Wii demographic practically guarantees (at least at the moment) that mature titles will not perform in line with more family fare.

I'm sure the Wii can support mature titles, as RE shows, but people need to be realistic about their sales potential.

I have a Wii and so does most everyone I know. And in all those cases it is the family console and there is no chance of mature games being purchased.

This gen unlike last there are two viable platforms for mature games and one in particular (360) whose demographic is perfect for mature titles. The Wii has the market-share but I really doubt that within that market-share it has (so far) as many potential mature game purchasers as the PS2 did.

The actual install base for mature Wii games I'm convinced is way lower than its total install base, and probably way lower than for the PS3/360.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I might have bought it on release if it was longer then 4-6 hours.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

This is why I rented uncharted, it's great, but i want a few more hours then what's given. If i can beat it with a rental i will beat it with a rental. Rented again for trophies and got a platinum.....with a rental. Good game, to short though.

Edit: I'm gonna crack open my wii tomorow, ill rent madworld. I'll mark this down as the actual game that makes me open up my box lol, was gonna open it for monster hunter tri.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

Yes they look promising and they may perform better than Madworld. They seem to be more attractive to the common videogame user.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that MW is a bad game (that I can't tell). But from a customer POV, if I see the trailer for MW my first thought will be "that's stupid". Over the top violence, comic monochromatic art, black humor..that's not something that the common user would like. On the other hand, I think that a game like The conduit will have a better reception because it has a more familiar look (more sci fi and movie like) like Gears or wars or Halo.

I never expected MW to break a record. But I guess that like No more heroes it will sell well eventually.

This. Were it only hardcore, it could enjoy a nice success, hardcore gamers are undeniably a smaller share (*) than before, but they didn't disappear in a puff of smoke like Malstrom would like us to believe. But that peculiar style means that Madworld gamers must like it besides being hardcore, this makes things a lot more difficult.

(*) Edit: nevertheless they are more than before, they are a smaller share of a much bigger market

Hopefully the word spreads and people buy games buy playing it at friends house or throug word of mouth. Remember that Wii games have plenty legs. First 10 weeks never decided the fate of a game. I think it can maintain a 15-20k average a week and it will make it close to a million if not a million.

                                             WII is the FUTURE GAMING!

You are a sharp fellow Mr. Turner, and I think you have nailed this issue directly on the head. I look forward to your future work.
