I am not saying that MW is a bad game (that I can't tell). But from a customer POV, if I see the trailer for MW my first thought will be "that's stupid". Over the top violence, comic monochromatic art, black humor..that's not something that the common user would like. On the other hand, I think that a game like The conduit will have a better reception because it has a more familiar look (more sci fi and movie like) like Gears or wars or Halo. I never expected MW to break a record. But I guess that like No more heroes it will sell well eventually. |
This. Were it only hardcore, it could enjoy a nice success, hardcore gamers are undeniably a smaller share (*) than before, but they didn't disappear in a puff of smoke like Malstrom would like us to believe. But that peculiar style means that Madworld gamers must like it besides being hardcore, this makes things a lot more difficult.
(*) Edit: nevertheless they are more than before, they are a smaller share of a much bigger market
