Forums - Nintendo - I'm pretty sure Zelda Wii is in the works at the same tim as the DS-game

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive that during E3 2008, when Reggie mentioned that both the Mario team and the Zelda team were hard at work, he specifically said that they were working on Wii projects.

Am I remembering wrong? Because if I'm not, that'd mean that either the Zelda team are working on something completely different for Wii (for the first time ever), or Zelda Wii is being developed simultaneously with Spirit Tracks for the DS.

I think so, as DSI is getting released next month then they'd be pretty stupid not to concentrate on the DSI at GDC.

E3 will be the time for Wii announcements as last year didn't Nintendo state they played E3 wrong and next year would be better?

I reckon we'll get a Zelda announcement at E3.

You would think Nintendo is almost always working on the next console Zelda.
Especially now, when you consider the Wii doesn't have a real Wii Zelda yet.

''Hadouken!''

Sometime last year (I believe it was the director of Twilight Princess/Phantom Hourglass) said that people from the Wii & DS teams were swapping in and out, so a Zelda Wii is most definitely in the works. Just takes time. I would expect something this year, not much, and a proper unveiling next year.

Of course your right, are there actually people who think otherwise!?

Miyamoto has said a number of times that both the DS and Wii teams have staff working on each entry and swapping around to bring in new ideas for each game. How would that be possible without a Wii game?

I did not even know that this was questionable. It was mentioned awhile ago that Nintendo has two teams working on Zelda games, one for handhelds and one for consoles. I know there were some people pretending that Spirit Tracks makes Zelda Wii impossible but I figured they were just trolls.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

I think it's obvious that the Zelda team is always working on the next console game in some shape or form.

I'm betting that it will come out next year.

Miyamoto said that the next Zelda on the Wii started development pre TP launch, it was quoted on IGN, but that's kinda obvious, those guys start work on the next game as soon as the previous game is done, and the handheld games never effect the console game's team. I'd say Zelda Wii trailer and Zelda DS demo at E3.

I agree with wfz, it'll be the big game of 2010.. Also we may not see it at E3 this year due to Nintendo not wanting to take the attention away from Spirit Tracks..

Well alrighty then x) Lots of people were acting like Spirit Tracks meant Zelda Wii didn't exist, so I just thought I'd make a thread to clear it all up. Guess most people are way more sensible than that, which is very good :)
