Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: DSi-only games on their way

More RAM and CPU could I suppose solve some of the issues that have been a problem for RTS' on DS. It could help them handle more objects and use better pathfinding.

I'm not sure how many people want to play RTS on DS though, the input device is perfect for them but I suppose RTS doesn't really benefit from portability... Maybe if they brought out Red Alert or Starcraft with single cart multiplayer and online multiplayer.

I love how people see something that is should be obvious and react to it in a horrible fashion.

Let's take a logical step back. Nintendo likes to make money. So it is not going to shut out 100M DS/DSLite owners from Zelda and only offer it to the 10M who buy the DSi this year. Why cut out 90% of your potential audience. It may have some DSi-only features (mini-games, etc.). But the main game will be playable on any DS.

Games that use the camera or have DLC will have to be DSi-only because those features are not available in the current two DS models. That is just the way it has to be.

Also, Nintendo will work to move games more and more to the DSi platform. But just as it took a couple of years for a lot of GB Color only games to emerge, it will take some time for DSi only games to emerge.

If anyone wants to sell me their DSLite cheap, I am all ears.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

This is some F-ed up shii

Come on people, calm down. We are all speculating without any hard facts.

The are over 95-98million heavy and lite DSes out there. Do you honestly believe in this era that any publisher will release a game like Zelda just for the DSi and miss out on sales of a 95million userbase?

They will most likely be two versions that's all.

Stop being like a lynch mob. Let's wait and see.

I doubt it will become a standard any day, I think we will only see it in a few games, and more "gimmicky" ones anyway.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I really wish that Nintendo never went down the route of making games that will only work on one iteration of their console and not the other as it alienates the other 99-100million people that bought the console!

Has this ever happened?  I owned several GBC games and they all worked on my GB.

If anything, Nintendo has done a fantastic job of this and I'll only give them praise for being so great when it comes to this.  GB and GBC games work on GBA.  GBA games worked on DS.  Thank you Nintendo.

Early GBC games were normal GB games enhanced to work on the GBC. Later on there were actual GBC games that wouldn't run on a Brick or a Pocket.

Were there many of them though?

Colour is a highly understandable thing to take advantage of in almost any game. A camera, faster processing and more memory are less likely to be broadly used. How many games are going to work on DS, but be "enhanced" on DSi by the greater memory or processing? And how many will stay DSi exclusive just for the faster processor, unless DSi takes off even bigger than the DS did...

I don't know how many there were. Enough to be statistically significant. Maybe somebody who knows more than me will come along soon.
