So how many FF games are there that CAN be put on the VC? Unless they use the new SD Channel to open up how file sizes as Trillhouse suggests (that would be AWESOME, but I'm skeptical), we're limited to the cartridge console titles. How many are there? FF 1-6, Mystic Quest, and what else?

That's all. However, there's other titles from the SNES that Square has rights to and can put up on the Virtual Console. The only one I'm fairly sure they will not put up is Chrono Trigger, and that is because they'ed prefer to sell that port on the DS for $40 instead of $8 over the VC. They might also not bother with the Dragon Quest titles they recently remade, but they may utilize some of the othersover VC to keep a fanbase going over Nintendo platforms in all areas.

Hmm. It might just be joystiq, then, but I thought Squeenix's announcement was specifically limited to Final Fantasy titles, and that there would be six of them. If so, we essentially know what's coming. Although I could just have inserted what I WANT to happen, rather than what they actually said, as I had to skim it (stupid work, grrr...).

I didn't mean to imply that Square was planning to release other titles to VC other than Final Fantasy titles. I just meant that they could utilize other titles in their back catalog to make some easy money if they wanted. Frankly this is one of the smarter decisions SE has made in a while, and the smartest since they decided to put their true efforts behind the DS and PSP instead of heading down the doom and gloom of the HD consoles full force.

Ah, gotcha: I misread you earlier. They've already been doing that (Act Raiser, Ogre Battle, Secret of Mana, etc.), but it WOULD be nice if they opened up the floodgates more on both the Enix and Square sides. Ogre Battle is tough to top, but I wouldn't  turn down Soul Blazer, Robotrek, etc.

You know, you'd think Square would realize after selling the first six Final Fantasy games for the upteenth time that maybe there's a reason people are still buying and praising them while looking down upon more recent incarnations.

Yeah, right. Because FF stopped selling after VI and FFXII didnt outsell all the NES-SNES ones.

   Anyway, good news for Wii.

Oh I see.  You're saying sales equals quality versus my continued interest over a decade later equals quality.

Good luck with that.

Cool, I'll download FFVI is it comes out.

I may get FFIV the after years too, seems interesting enough.
