Game Studio falls in Epic debt and makes game H but is too late to be saved even with great sales. Game Studio B then laughs at Midway... I mean Game Studio A. It is the way of the world. Even video games are not impervious to failing. |
You are absolutely right that this industry has been very "hit" driven. The problem right now is that developers and publishers have let the budgets balloon so large, that misses are hurting a lot more than they used to hurt. In some cases, a single miss has brought down a developer.
