Well if DKII is correct, they made almost $3 million for Wiiware revenue alone. So total revenue must be about $5-5.5 million.

If they had taken that offer, they would have received $0.7 million, + 15% of $5.5 million... so they would have made about $1.5 million

----

Although, Nintendo takes a chunk of the revenue for Wiiware doesn't it? so is the 55-60% revenue including all money spent on Wiiware, or just that which goes to 2Dboy?

Normally you'd count the whole enchilada, not just what 2D-Boy takes home. The same goes for Steam and retail. But when you stick it in context (talking about how much they were in debt after pre-orders, plus giving figures for their website, plus the use of "their") it sounds plausible that they're talking take-home.

Either way thay made a tasty profit considering the game cost less than $100k to make.

Hell even if DKII has overestimated sales by double they still made a lot of profit, and probably still more than the offer of $700k + 15% future revenue.

And it's still selling. Coasting along the top of the charts for months even though few WiiWare games are as expensive as World of Goo. The return on investment is just nuts.

well, if whta ya'll are saying is true, and they are just talking about what the got in their own pockets, they already have most of their life savings in the bank. 5 million is a pretty healthy chunk for 2 poeple to life on, and for just under 100k in development cost, thats a 50 fold return already.

i'm flabergasted...simply flabergasted.

And they deserve every cent, BUT i may not have bought this game if i didn't have the chance to try the demo out on PC.

I am far less likely to care about reviews when i am paying 10-20 dollars for a download-able game than when i pay for a full priced game because i think most reviews for these kind of games are generally crap, giving little weight to the fact that these aren't necessarily supposed to offer the same kind of experience as a full retail game.

I would however still like a little taste of what it is i'm paying for, after all i can't go to the shop or hire it out to try first. I think i would be far more likely to delve deeper into Wiiware if this were the case, so NINTENDO, sort out your storage solution and start giving us demos.

The game has brought in (or soon will) $2 million from WiiWare. So unless Nintendo took 65% of the revenue, I think they were right in turning down that $700k.
