Forums - Sony - PS3 Firmware 1.92: What did it do?

God... I love that that is actually in their feature lists. "Improved support for PS3 (or PSP) games." Took me a while to understand what it meant. Hehe...

Do you have a list of the features for 1.92?

Around the Network

Went searching, this is being reported as being part of the update:

"You can now use flash wallpapers, you can use a XMB screen saver, XMB loading times have been reduced, controllers turn off automatically, the internet browser has been improved and the PS1/PS2 compatibilty has been updated."

Quite a good update really.

just did a quick google to find that one out myself :)

Sounds like a decent enough addition

Yes

  • The ability to add Flash wallpapers
  • Web browser improvements
  • Controllers auto-power off after inactivity
  • The XMB loads icons and video thumbnails much faster. Transitions between games and the XMB are all reportedly faster too.
  • Backwards compatibility updated for consoles lacking the Emotion Engine

No, not an official one anyway. What's already been said around here is all I could find out. Sorry for hijacking your thread.

I've heard that the Sixaxis controls on Lair has significantly improved. Does anyone have Lair to see if this is true?

Flash wallpapers is a great idea.  I assume PCs have those but I haven't heard of them.

Web browser needs to be...firefox...it's free, and it should be integrated.

That controller feature is good because I drained my controller a few nights ago when I left my PS3 on.

The transition does seem a little faster, but I could be imaging it...I'll look again.

Uhh, the PS3 browser is Mozilla based, which is what Firefox is built off of.

But really, why does the PS3 need Firefox? Do you really browse the internet that often on your PS3?

actually I do, I post here sometimes on my PS3.

on the flash backgrounds for PCs few PCs actually can support it. XP has a hard time running flash backgrounds.

Wrong. It's NetFront, go look it up. I haven't a clue where that idea ever came from.
