Who say's im agreeing? The guy in the video isn't buying FF13, I am.. I didn't go all "emo" after it wen't multi-plat, I said one thing.. "bad move". IF theres a KH3 im getting it aswell, after that.. I probably won't have any intrest in square enix anymore. And NOT just because of FF13.

Makes sense considering that the lead theory is that playa-hatin' Microsoft bought JRPGs not even expecting them to succeed, but just to keep them off the PS3.  :)

I think many of them have yet to buy an HD console.  Debatable how many will buy one anytime soon.

I love RPGs but I honestly think the problem isn't the platform this generation with JRPs (on HD consoles) but the quality. The story and game play mechanics are just substandard in my opinion.

JRPG develoeprs may favor the 360 because it may cost less to develop for the 360? I think there is lots of evidence floating around that seems to indicate that PS3 development may be more expensive.

Even if, hypothetically, a JRPG released on the PS3 and outsold the 360 counterpart it may not be sufficient to justify the PS3 development cost.

I think developers should give the Wii a chance. Low development costs and huge install base = no brainer. I honestly think HD gaming is overrated and a bit forced this generation.



I'm not a fanboy, I just try to tip the balance in favor of logic and common sense.

Pretty much. The "article" is fanboy drivel. It neglects things like the costs of developing on ps3 are unsustainable with the budgets these guys work on, etc.

If any non-handheld console should be targetted, it's the wii, not the ps3.

hmm interesting but i think JRPG's are not incredibly popular here in the west. I mean plenty of people play them but not enought that you dont need to make it for both consoles

Indeed. It is a good comedy piece. Why would publishers put their games on the ps3 when the dev costs are just as high as 360 ones and they can get similar sales on the amrket leader, wii. We have no evidence that it cannot shift software in japan, in fact it sells tons of software there. A cheap spinoff tales game there sold quite well and the only ps3 rpg we can really compare it to is a super hyped WKC. I think once all these wii rpgs that have been listed are released, they will compare well to ps3 rpgs of similar quality.

 

Wii will be the rpg king by the end of the gen and be leader at the start of the next. Iwata won't be an idiot and lose the marketshare like Nintendo did in the 64 era.

True SE fans need to pick up a 360. Stop complaining all the time and blaming Japanese companies. None of you probably cared last gen with gamecube and xbox owners were suffering.



Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^
