Forums - Gaming - Future game flops?

MAG will sell awesomely to the casually minded PS3 crowd and yes PS3 does have casual gamers that bought it as a replacement for their PS2/as a blu ray player, I know 3 people who fit that category, ALL cannot wait for MAG..

Whether it'll sell well to the more hardcore owners is tough to say.. over 200 players online says yes to me..

The others.. Not sure.. Perhaps one of this years GH games? seems like Activision are releasing too many of those..

Why is MAG already being dismissed as a flop, all we have seen is 1 trailer

oh yeah, MAG is fixing to be a flop too. but it depends on advertising, as shooters are always incredibly popular, and MAG is promising quite a big thing.

Heavy rain will not flop. The developers are no doubt well aware that they are making a niche game.

It will, however, fail to meet the expectations of many people on interweb forums

Definitely agree about Heavy Rain.

I can see Infamous selling pretty well even if it gets trashed by reviews though, I think.

Alan Wake... I won't say anything until we see some more of it.

well it depends on what you call a flop. lemme see..

heavy rain will struggle to reach half a million and i'm absolutely sure it will never see a million. if that's a flop for you guys..

but if your expectations are low (i doubt anyone has low expectations here), then that would be great for a niche title.

the problem is, heavy rain has been in development for three years. three years and not even a million sales?

to me that's a flop.

If Heavy Rain is advertised well it has the potential to sell lots.

InFamous probably WILL be advertised well, its the kind of spiderman/superhero game that appeals to the young audience also.

Alan Wake... we have no idea at all.

I personally think The Conduit will flop. Like i said Madworld will also flop.

the conduit.. not sure. it's still a shooter on the console with the largest install base.

Apart from little PC media we know very little about this game, it could turn out to be just another Too Human, long development cycle, lots of hype, mediocre game.

Previews of Heavy Rain (Silent Hill type game) and Infamous have been very positive, to say the least and the games are looking impressive. I think they will sell decently, but may however become overshadowed by anticipation for the rest of the PS3's stellar line-up (but Infamous seems to get released in a relatively quiet period, this can both be good or bad). Likewise with regard to exclusive PS3 games like Demo's Soul, WarDevil and Quantum Theory

For MAG there's also a lack of information at this point.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Of those three games I believe Infamous or Heavy Rain have the highest chance of being a flop. Alan Wake it looks good but I have a feeling it may never be released. Sad but hey that is life. Duke Nukem Forever 12 years on and it has not arrived. Alan Wake well was scheduled to be released in 2006, fast forward three years and it is no where in sight. No video footage or trailer just screen shots. In regards to flops it is a long shot but I am hoping FFXIII flops in regards to reviews does not achieve AAA ranking. However it is guaranteed to sell 3 or 4 million on PS3 in Japan just because it is a FF game. IMO: All Final Fantasy series games are over rated, Japanese emo/gothic game with kids as the main characters. 13 could be unlucky for Final Fantasy series. I saw the videos and it looked like a very boring mediocre game to me. WRPGs >>> JRPGs.
