Forums - Sales - Microsoft: FFXIII will sell more on 360

Ever since FF7, people have associated Final Fantasy with Playstation... so I think this is one game which will actually sell better on PS3, especially with Japan sales.

yes it is true about the SO4 disc swapping multiple times throughout the game. It is one of the reason's it got such poor review scores.

Wow.  In that case SE deserves poor sales if they aren't even willing to do the dang game right.  Seriously, all their games recently have been poorly made with framerate issues and glitches and now this.  SE, it's time for you to do things right!  If they mess up FFXIII I will seriously never buy an SE game ever again.

EDIT:  I see it is just after you reach the final disc, but still... they could have done something.  Expand to a 4th disc?

lol nightsurge. 4 days is an excuse but neglects kz2 2 days

what was gears feb npd sales?

If NPD's figures is anything to go by, Star Ocean 4, a game also by Square Enix, performed miserably on the 360, failing to hit the top 20 its first full week on the market.

It's possible considering its install base advantage the 360 version might outsell the PS3 version for North America. But it can also be a major driver for PS3 sales if the 360 version ends up being subpar and/or comes supplied on too many discs.

They feverishly attacked Killzone 2's two days sales for February 2009, but that all seems very premature as well. Killzone 2 for example outperformed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's first week sales tenfold! And Uncharted turned into a million seller for the US/NA.

It will be interesting, I think FF XIII on the PS3 will easily outsell the 360 version for the rest of the world.

Gotta love MikeB!  He turns good things into bad, and bad things into good!  Like the Star Ocean 4 debut on the 360 that did incredibly well for a JRPG.  it was #1 in Japan first week, Mikey, and only released in NA on February 24th, so only 4 days worth of data for the NPD.

SO 4 was not even in the 360's top 10

it had 4 days on the market in February

Not even in the top 10, still not very good

I don't think many people really care about multi-disc games, especially not Final Fantasy/JRPG fans!  Especially if there is some long installations needed for the PS3 version, I'd take 4 discs and a total of 1 minute lost to disc swapping over anywhere between 10-45 minutes of installs depending on how it ends up being.

Well, SE's recent SO 4 had 3 discs, and you have to swap between them multiple times as you have to go back to disc 1 if you want to return to that area. Of course the same thing could happen in FF XIII, but it is unlikely. More likely about 6 discs.

Really?  If so this is a first for JRPG games.  Usually as you progress through the main story, you change discs.  And regardless of if you return to an earlier location, you stay on the same disc.  Is there any proof to this SO4 thing?  I'd like to see it because that would be annoying if true.  Also, I bet FFXIII is 4 discs like LO.

It is a first to my knowledge, if you want proof, it is in all the reviews that I read. I think it will be more than LO, it will have even more FMVs

Killzone 2 beat out a game that only managed a bit over a million LTD so far?  GASP NO WAYS!  Not sure why you even bring up Killzone 2 sales.  For the trumpeted AAA game on the PS3 that it is, it doesn't seem to be faring much better than Resistance 2, which is quite sad, really.

Uncharted has sold 2.6m, 2m before the holiday season which included some bundling

Talking about USA or did you not read MikeB's post?

I read his post, and it has sold 1.2m in the USm, but what he said applied to both US and Others, though his 10:1 ratio was slightly wrong. Uncharted sold 95k in the US proper 1st week, 85k in Others, now 1.2m in US, 1.36m in Others.

I think in the US it will be similar to the Resident Evil 5 ratio, and the rest of the world will likely make the PS3 version sell more.  But who cares?!?  Just having the ability to buy it and play it on a 360 is a losing situation for Sony and a winning situation for me

360 version being multi-disc does matter as FFXIII isnt going to sell to jRPG nerds exclusively, it's going to sell to mainstream audience, and they probably care about such things. But then again, I doubt 360 version being multi-disc will be made widely known, most people will only realize that once they open the box.

The only people who actually care about disc swapping are the fanboys of the opposite console.  And since when does FFXIII sell to mainstream audiences?  It will sell to JRPG/RPG fans almost exclusively.  Sure there maybe some people who only get a rare RPG that pick it up, but not people who only play shooters or action or racing games.

I disagree. Final Fantasy sells to mainstream audience ever since FFVII. That's what makes it sell so much more than other jRPG games. If it only sold to jRPG fans it wouldnt get that far from other games in the genre.

Legend of Dragoon was similar Munkeh.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

He's obviously talking about the USA, unless of course theres some secret MS plan thats going to release it in Japan as well.

It's just that simple.

I've not once said that Killzone 2's NPD sales were awful.

Not sure on Gears of War 2's NPD sales.   Why are you curious anyway?  It debuted with first week sales (2 days) of much higher and has since trended a lot higher to reach around 4.7 million (a number that Killzone 2 will never come close to reaching).

And according to this page, Star Ocean on 360 is doing pretty well considering all the other previous ones' sales.  The only one that sold over 1 million was the PS2 version which launched to a much larger install base.
