Forums - Sales - Microsoft: FFXIII will sell more on 360

Has there been a multiplatform game that has sold more on the ps3 then the 360 in America?

Yup, Unreal Tournament III, Dynasty Warriors 6, Virtua Fighter 5, and Enchanted Arms. I'm sure there a lot more I just got to lazy to look for more.

Japanese games don't do that well in the West, and since this is the first FF game Xbox is getting besides FFXI, it'll do much better on the PS3.

If NPD's figures is anything to go by, Star Ocean 4, a game also by Square Enix, performed miserably on the 360, failing to hit the top 20 its first full week on the market.

It's possible considering its install base advantage the 360 version might outsell the PS3 version for North America. But it can also be a major driver for PS3 sales if the 360 version ends up being subpar and/or comes supplied on too many discs.

They feverishly attacked Killzone 2's two days sales for February 2009, but that all seems very premature as well. Killzone 2 for example outperformed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's first week sales tenfold! And Uncharted turned into a million seller for the US/NA.

It will be interesting, I think FF XIII on the PS3 will easily outsell the 360 version for the rest of the world.

how much did the lowest seller sell for npd 360

WW??? Impossible.
NA??? Hard, but possible.

Microsoft will probably help advertise 360 version in America. And I doubt Sony will do the same as it seems it doesnt care about FF or jRPGs in general anymore.

Japan and worldwide no. FF games sell around half their game sales in Japan region alone.

If we excluded Japan from the count then FF on X360 would outsell FFXIII on PS3. NA would make the sales numbers in favour of X360. In europe the game sales numbers would be narrowly in favour of PS3.FFXIII on X360 would outsell PS3 in non-Japan regions.

Anyway FFXIII release I believe will appear in Japan late 2010 at the earliest. Europe and NA release it will appear in 2011.

So you think the game is going to be released in 2010 despite a demo being released in a few weeks, and SE having comfirmed it for a 2009 release?

Anyway, they are probably right about it winning in the US, but it doesn't stand a chance world wide

Gotta love MikeB!  He turns good things into bad, and bad things into good!  Like the Star Ocean 4 debut on the 360 that did incredibly well for a JRPG.  it was #1 in Japan first week, Mikey, and only released in NA on February 24th, so only 4 days worth of data for the NPD.

I don't think many people really care about multi-disc games, especially not Final Fantasy/JRPG fans!  Especially if there is some long installations needed for the PS3 version, I'd take 4 discs and a total of 1 minute lost to disc swapping over anywhere between 10-45 minutes of installs depending on how it ends up being.

Killzone 2 beat out a game that only managed a bit over a million LTD so far?  GASP NO WAYS!  Not sure why you even bring up Killzone 2 sales.  For the trumpeted AAA game on the PS3 that it is, it doesn't seem to be faring much better than Resistance 2, which is quite sad, really.

I think in the US it will be similar to the Resident Evil 5 ratio, and the rest of the world will likely make the PS3 version sell more.  But who cares?!?  Just having the ability to buy it and play it on a 360 is a losing situation for Sony and a winning situation for me

Lol you are a good joker thoug. Disk swapping is so 1997.

I'll have to send Microsoft some bacon after this comes out to go with all that egg that'll surely be on their faces. Japan will NOT allow this game to sell more on the 360 WW. More in America, maybe, but FF is the biggest in Japan, and ultimately that'll be the deciding region.

360 version being multi-disc does matter as FFXIII isnt going to sell to jRPG nerds exclusively, it's going to sell to mainstream audience, and they probably care about such things. But then again, I doubt 360 version being multi-disc will be made widely known, most people will only realize that once they open the box.

The best selling JRPG so far has four disks (Lost Odyssey), so disk swapping is not a big deal.
