What you meant to say was, "only out 3 days and in the TOP TEN sales? AWESOME."

Given the amount their previous games sold.. I would hope they didn't spend billions upon billions to make MadWorld.

Agreed, I even found more examples (previously posted at US weekly sales for March 14) Of all 3rd Party Wii Platinum Sellers ONLY 27% sold more than 57K first week and they all had established names or franchises: |
You teach a class on generalization? Cool. Show us how many games under 57K in the first week didn't go platinum now. In particular, cull all but the M rated ganes.

You are really late to this party.
I think it will sell well enough.
It may not be a huge blockbuster, but i think it could maybe hit 1 million at some point.

Not to mention that you're supposed to get high at the party, not before you get there.

Do you want me to post photos on my 42' HDTV to show that what you say it's a complete lie? I can tell you that it is the game with less giggles I played on the Wii... ;) |
Actually, I have giggled several times playing this game :)
57k in 3 days is a nice turn around, next week we should see numbers that are above 60k due to the European release and the word of mouth will quickly spread for this one.
Remember it's a game that's black and white, it's not targeted at the family demographic.
However it does suit the Wii very well, it's had a very good marketing campaign and your average Wii owner finds out about games through word of mouth so I won't bring up reviews even though they've been positive too.
Only games with an install base of fans will pull massive opening numbers. Wii games are more impulse buys also so everybody calm down and realise that Nintendo have disrupted the way games sell, they're more long tailed or 'evergreen' than the PS3 or 360, the Wii needs blockbuster games too though just like any industry whether it be books or movies, you have to have your Star Wars or Harry Potters.. We'll see some of those this year with the likes of Wii Sports Resort etc..

lol, never trust anything a Gamestop employee ever tells you. Some of the dumbest people work there and some of the funniest stories I've ever heard start with "my local Gamestop manager said..." I know you think you're buddy buddy with them but they're still stupid and regularly lie to your face. |
I can actually say don't trust everyone there, because I went to Gamestop with a friend of mines to get NBA 2K7. I know it's a old game, but still. It's only a few bucks so I said what the heck lol. They had boxes of NBA 2K7, 2K8,2K9 there. My homie went up to the counter and asked the man if they had NBA 2K6. He said they didn't have any NBA 2K games or any 2K games period. Funny though, I left the store with a 2K game.

Why, what would that prove? Nobody is trying to make the claim that selling under 60K in the first week means success, but we're saying that it doesn't automatically mean failure. Successful Wii games don't have enormous starts, so you can't use this shortcut indicator anymore. (It's shortcut in that you make your conclusions before an appropriate amount of time has passed).
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
