Ok, I check the worldwide list for sales figures.  I see how Street Fighter 4 is falling off.  I see that Killzone 2 is still in the top 10.  But then, right beneath it is Mario Kart Wii?  What the heck?  What is going on here? 

I am tempted to propose Wii games as bars that games sell over.

First, Wii Sports (top seller)

Then, Wii Play (top 3 seller)

Then, Wii Fit (top 5 seller)

Then, Mario Kart Wii (top 10 seller)

Anyhow, why does Mario Kart Wii remain where it is?

Well Mario kart is the game you normally buy when you buy the system. It has name recognition, critcally acclaimed, online, and most importantly a fun multiplayer experience. Most people getting a wii have played a mario kart game before and know that they can trust in the entertainement that it will supply.

Mario Kart Wii has had strange sales lately because of the shortages in NA and Europe. Except the shortages to be taken care of very soon so the sales will stop increasing every week. I hope that helps.

It's actually been dropping lately, but there's talk that this is because of shortages. I don't know about that, it seems a bit awkward that a game that's been out for almost a year has shortages, but it's probably true anyways.

However, it has been selling over 150k a week worldwide even before the holidays set in, and now it is about 100k weekly. But since it's been low in NA first but still high in Europe while it is exactly the other way around now, it could very well be that shortages are the reason.

For a game it's weird indeed Nfanboy. But I could imagine that they have more trouble with producing and packaging the wheel.

It's an evergreen title, and it's also massively popular and fun. Those other games simply aren't.

Beacuse everyone can play it, "hardcore" "core" "casuals" "grandparents"
