I see no reason to think that Microsoft cannot continue to succeed in Japan (in comparative terms) and break two million. They have a few years left in this cycle and it could be argued that with further price reductions and improvements and as yet unknown games it is probably very likely.

Well FF XIII and V XIII and KH3 (believe!!!) are really going to push PS3 hardware further, so it should keep on selling, though obviously not at these rates

I am not sure about the Xbox, it all depends what Mistwalker have up their sleeve, and how much more M$ is going to chuck at Japan

i wonder how much harder ms will push for territory in japan. was whatever they did to lock down the exclusives (timed or not) really worth it to make 1 million in sales? it's a solid base that they can work with, i guess.

ps3 still has a bunch of games that the japanese market are interested in, so it's sales will continue to grow - slow and steady. that and the eventual slim and all the collector's editions which the east seem to love so much.

what i'm really curious about is the wii. it's sales have been steadily decreasing - does the wii itself not have legs? replace game weekly sales with console yearly sales... wii = halo 3 and ps3 = lbp?

The PS3 still has such a long way to go in Japan, for one the price of the console is still very high so when the price does drop it should leave the console doing 10k every week minimum. The FFXIII demo will sell consoles let alone the full game and also Versus will do the same, GT5 is another one but nothing in the FFXIII scale.

It seems to be never too late in Japan, the PSP was not doing too hot until MH came along and then look what happened.

congrats to both the ps3 and 360 , i think the ps3 will double to 6 million by the summer of 2011 with the current economy in japan. i think the 360 will hit just over 2million before this gen is over in japan. :)

its terrible for 360 simply because people say games make people buy consoles. well the 360 has had alot of big exclusive games japan love and yet hasnt really managed to move too much. its good that microsoft are trying but i dont think its the games that make the japanese not buy the xbox.
